Screw the B1G

  • Can we stop with the PSU bad attitudes on here? Talking smack, after what we've just been through and what we will continue to go through?

Seriously, this whole screw the BIG/NCAA thing has to stop. It won't help anything.

People need to vent somewhere - it's part of the healing process. Eventually, it will die down (I would guess after the weekend).

  • The BIG 10 money that won't be coming is just the bowl money, not the Network money, so you want to throw away 20 million because you're not going to get the 13 million bowl money...
not the smartest move now, is it!!

And leaving the Big 10 would hurt Penn St in the research area, there's more to the Big 10 than just athletics, it's research and grants, those are the building blocks to having a school that is regarded as the best. Leave the Big 10 and go independent... I don't think there would be to many networks lining up to offer a rich tv contract since Penn State will be down on scholarships, (that means the brand of football is going to slide, and with it, interest in watching.) The best thing for Penn State right now is to stay the course, put this behind them, get an administration in that will not allow this to happen again, take the punishment (even if it's a little to severe) and come back from it better than before.

4 years is a long time, but here's a football fan that will be at the first game after the sanctions, pulling for Penn State.. (and I'll be pulling for them this year and next, and the next)

Actually, the BIG hasn't been with PSU for awhile. Just a question I want an honest answer for. The BIG went out of its way for OSU brokering that deal so ineligible players could play against Arkansas. Why did they do that? What have they done to support PSU during this? Nothing. Their actions are far from standing by our side IMO.

Yeah- only in fantasy land could the conference wave a magic wand and solve this problem for PSU. I would use crazy emoticon for your post but since I'm on mobile I cannot.

It was not the B1G that helped those players play against Arkansas. It was the NCAA that bent over backwards to allow that to happen. The NCAA wanted tOSU fan base to ensure a very successful bowl game. The B1G was not happy with tOSU throughout the tat gate. The Buckeye's should not have enve gone to that bowl game against Arkansas. This situation can't even be compared to tat gate....get real! It was PSU that was working with the NCAA on this Sandusky mess...they wanted swift action and were willing to take it between the legs to get it over with. We are seeing the "new death penalty" with this latest decision. This is devastating to the B1G. If this was any other conference....PSU would have been kicked out. The events that occurred were terrible. The B1G is one of the last conferences that value the fundamentals of education which PSU has a lot to offer.
