Saban was mediocre at best while at MSU. But look what he was able to do with the players available to LSU and Bama. He has definitely brought the team pride that was gone prior to 2007 back to Bama.

"What is Bama's graduation rate under Saban?" implies that you are content, if not proud of his record. If you're proud of 67%, esp given the quality of UA's academics, more power to you. You also apparently have no problem with the issue of over-signing. Fine. What does the fact that other recruits got into other mediocre at best institutions, regardless of their # of stars, have to do with Bama's grad rate? So you don't have the lowest standards in all of FBS. K. My original post was in support of your coach's appearance(s) on espn. Your response was in support of your coach's grad rate and since he isn't breaking any rules, you're ok with over-signing. Good for you. Personally, I believe that if Joe and his staff were more willing to adapt to current trends in offense and coaching in general, we could be much more competitive against top 10 teams with the kids that we currently have on the roster and continue to recruit. The kids that are dedicated to graduating and excelling in the classroom as well as on the football field. All the while, we honor our scholarship offers and even allow our walk-ons to earn them over time. The SEC is by far the most talented conference in college football. Every school, to my knowledge, with the exception of probably Vandy, participates in the most unethical practice in college football recruiting. Pulling scholarships from 5-8 kids a year - baffles me that the NCAA hasn't stepped in and put a stop to this. That's the problem I have with Bama and SEC recruiting practices that I referenced in my original post in this thread. The fact that a couple kids couldn't get into Bama and went to Louisville and South Florida instead is neither here nor there. But they were 5*s, so...

All this tripe about oversigning etc is nothing but sour grapes. Academics as well because if you are honest you know PSU athletes are there to play football as well. Academics are what you have to do to stay eligible here in the SEC AND in the Big-10/12.
Saban is a cocky Bellichick desciple that does not give a rip what opposing fans think of him. I doubt seriously that he has many friends BUT you will have to show me some proof of anything "unethical" that is alleged here.
Saban has never offered a kid, signed him and then told him he did not have room to take him. (Lester Big-10 guy Miles did that)
Saban has never booted a kid off the team because he stunk. We have a Sr OT who was a 5 star that hasn't played and he's there every week
Telling someone that they may have an opportunity to play more somewhere else if they choose to do that is not unethical in fact it could be said that keeping someone on for 4 years and using them for tackling dummies when you know they will not play is unethical.
Putting someone who has suffered career ending injuries on medical scholarship is not unethical. They still get a free education. I wish I could have had a medical scholarship.
Bama has never signed 36 kids in a class (Houston Nutt) and the only times Bama over signs above 25 they have players who have agreed to take grey shirts if necessary. Usually there are 1-2 academic casualties per class anyway so the numbers work out.
You use an awfully broad brush on you blanket accusations.
BTW Saban was pretty good at MSU his last year and had he stayed he would have built that program into something special.
Glad no one was injured & Good Luck the rest of the way
