What does everyone think we need to do to get in?
A win versus OSU would be huge, but I think we need to beat Minnesota too. If you look at the Big Ten, 5 teams look like definites.. (OSU, Purdue, Wisconsin, MSU, Illinois). After that, its between PSU, Minny and UM for one or two more spots. Losing twice to UM really hurt us, but if Minny beats UM tonight and we beat Minny again, we all kinda cancel each other out. IMO, if we beat OSU and Minny, they have to let us in.
Need to beat OSU and Minni and then win 2 games in the Big 10 Tournament.
If they lose to OSU then they need to beat Minni and probably win 3 in the big 10 tournament.
19 is the magic number here. You could argue 18 wins is good enough, but with a loss to Maine Eddie "Double Digit Loss" DuhChellis needs all the ammo he can gather. I'm sure a trip to the NIT however will satisfy the athletic department.
If they were to win Tuesday, I'd give them a pretty good shot. The selection committee would have a hard time turning down a team with so many wins against the RPI top 50.
Now if they lose to OSU, they need to beat Minny and make a run to Sunday in the Big Ten Tourney.
I think we need to win out our final two games of the regular season and then win no less than 1 game in the Big 10 tourney and we should get in. If we win two games in the Big 10 tourney, I think we are definitely in.
Winning games is the easiest way in. Beating OSU would be huge, but is still a stretch even though it is at home. I definitely think they are capable of competing with the Bucks and even beating them, but it will take a great game from everyone.
Either way they have to go on the road and beat Minny, who is considered 'comparable' to PSU at the end of the season. A sweep of the Gophers would be a nice touch to the resume.
Finally, PSU can NOT be bounced from the Big Ten Tourney early. Need at least 1 win, 2 would be ideal, and anything more than that might just seal the bid.
-Beat OSU and Minnesota and PSU should be in regardless of what happens in in the BTT because they would likely be in the top-5 and immune to a "bad loss" in Indy.
-Split those 2 (L to OSU, W in Minny) and PSU needs 1 to 2 tournament wins. If they're the 6th seed, they'd need to beat the 11 and then the 3-seed. If they're the 5th, a win against the 4 might be enough but they would some need outside help and no suprise winners from other conf tourneys.
-Lose both and they'll need 4 wins in 4 days.

If they win both games, they are in. If they lose both games, they will need 4 wins in the BTT. If they beat OSU and lose to Minny, they will need one win in the BTT. If they lose to OSU and beat Minny, they will need 2 wins in the tourny.
PSU needs to split OSU and Minnesota and then win at least one game in Indianapolis to even remain viable.
After that, it comes down to upsets in conference tournaments and particularly how many mid-major teams get at large berths and thus whehter 6 or 7 Big Ten teams get into the tournament.
Virginia Tech's win over Duke and Michigan's win over Minnesota yesterday were not good news for PSU, as those are both bubble teams that have been beaten PSU this year.
Also, I predict that if PSU gets into the tournament, we're a 12th seed playing in the new Tuesday play-in game.
