Listen, man, I know it's an obvious penalty. The fact is that refs just don't call stuff on Hail Mary passes. The only time I've ever heard of it happening is in the Buffalo-NE game I mentioned (link attached).
So unless you can tell me more instances of NFL refs calling PI on Hail Mary passes...I don't think you have an argument that they "DO" call it. Should they call it? I absolutely think so, especially if it's blatantly obvious. But they don't.
