I have no insight into the situation and only an opinion that doesn't matter, but my opinion is that Silas Redd does not care that he had only three carries yesterday or did not play the week for before because of an undisclosed injury. His eyes are on the big prize right now (the NFL) and not the well-being of his team and he's just looking to escape this season uninjured so his draft value will be the highest it can be.

Right now, he'll be lucky to be a 5th round pick.

I always thought that there was little chance transferring would help his draft stock. It's pretty clear in this case that it will actually hurt him in the long run due to his performance.

Great "business" decision wasn't it? I hope all of our returning starters use some brains and look at the guys who left the program and see how it panned out.

Well, considering how under-valued RB are becomming in the NFL, he should care. His stock could have been 2nd round with a good season. Now he'll be luck to see the 4th round. I have no doubt that if he had stayed at PSU(and stayed healthy), that he'd have been a 1000 yard, 10 TD RB. This, combined with a solid soph season could have possibly gotten him into the 2nd round.

Not that I give two shits, but the kid likely cost himself millions, and with the threat of injury in the NFL, there is no guarantee he'll see that in his second contract either. The difference between a 2nd and 4th round pick can be 5 million +.

What a 4th round draft pick?

  • Silas Redd 740 Yards rushing Zack Zwinak 821 Yards rushing. Sorry Silas, but this is PSU and there is always a 1000 yard back waiting in the wings for his turn. Fan's wondered who was going to take over for Tony Hunt, and Kinlaw carried the torch just fine, they wondered who would carry load when Silas turned yellow and jumped ship, looks like ZZ, Zordich, Belton, and Day picked up the pieces. Great job PSU running backs you stayed strong and played well.
Next year we have ZZ, with Lynch should be a nice one-two punch. Not sure if they should move BB to the slot, hate to see his talent wasted on the depth chart. I think BB will impress next year.

  • Definitely pulling for USCw, ie, the team with less to lose. Don't know if I can stand another weekend surrounded by domers, they could ruin the whole south FL mojo thing for me. Kiffin will be back even with a loss to ND. Now if they lose to a chump in a crappy bowl.......

as long as ZZ is here that does nothing more than shave at scholarship and open the door for lynch. Hate top put it that way, but if a kid entertains leaving because of PT, so be it...best of luck....look at those who those that same route last year

OK ... so you have ZZ and Lynch. What if we don't get a RB in this class (Anderson isn't IMO) and Belton transfers. There is a MAJOR depth problem because Dukes is gone and so will Day. IMO, I have no reason to believe Belton returns. Hope he does, but ...

If Belton leaves I wouldn't be shocked if Scales got offered to seal up Issah. Scales isn't as big as Belton but has way more wiggle.

  • I told everyone Redd is going to have a tough go of it in the nfl. He isnt tough, not fast, he is fragile, he isnt big. He just has some wiggle but not nearly as much as a ray Graham.

He all the sudden becomes a priority IMO to be in this class. The post I responded to made it seem like we were fine with only ZZ and Lynch, while forgetting there wasn't a RB in this class.

  • I wonder if he truly does regret leaving now? Not that he'd ever say, and it's not even about the losing, but to only get 8 carries in a game is a joke. Silas, you were lied to, how's it feel?

    stigs007

  • Is there really room on a 65 man roster for depth at runningback (or any position)? Seems like we should be happy with a quality two-deep.

    An Actual Lion

  • Of course there's no hard evidence but a lot of folks have been theorizing that Silas has basically held himself out of games now that USC has no chance of playing for the MNC.

    psumichael

  • Hindsight is always 20-20. Had Silas known when he transferred that he was transferring from a 7-4 team to another 7-4 team on the left coast, and that the 2nd string FB at PSU would have more yardage then him, I think he may have reconsidered his "business decision".
