Thanks for the words of encouragement.

We know the issues at hand, and how difficult they will be. Unless you have something productive to add you should go back to BOL and tBB.

Even if you mean well, posts like this are unnecessary and just put salt in the wounds.

‏@Cordale10 Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS

  • These 2013 kids will get to play in one bowl game. 2014 kids will get to play in two. If this class sticks we may be able to hold on with an ok class in 2014. Those would be two huge steps towards this program not crumbling from these sanctions.

Depends on if they redshirt or not. If they RS and stay all 5 years, they'll get to play in two bowl games.

Wouldn't they still count against the schollie cap?

It'd be hard to talk a quality JUCO guy into playing for free.

If we can do it though, I'm all for it. I've always thought we didn't utilize the JUCO route the way we should have.

They would still use scholarship. However, it more relates to be commetitive in the short-term...we don't have time to wait on "developing" an 18 year old...when we can sign a 20 year old that might be more ready for action.

To bills regarding the academic point, I agree we need to focus on kids that have their grades in order and can graduate. I am more interested in JC kids that were late bloomers...

  • a few thoughts on the reduced level of scholarships. First, we are going to have the best walk on program in America. Certainly no where else will there be more opportunity for walkons than here. Second, you are going to have to be a little tougher on chasing away the guys that don't turn out the way you thought they would. You can't afford to keep the dead wood around.

  • Pretty sure upperclassmen will stick it out.
Have to hope frosh and sophs (guys like Donovan Smith, Dion Barnes, Jamil Pollard and Akeel Lynch) stay.
Great to hear Sickles, Mahon, and even Robinson have stayed committed. Hope AB, Hack, and DJ will follow. If those three come out and stand behind their commitments, that will send a message to other HS players that the ship won't be sinking.
The reduction of scholarships will also help the staff to get a head start on 2014, 2015, and even 2016 classes. Sell them on the fact that we will be counting on them to see the field right away.
To any player who wants to truly play at a school where they will be forever remembered for tackling one of the most daunting tasks in college football history, PSU is the place for you.

We don't have any and I wouldn't think any of them would resort themselves to that type of punishment.

Nothing really new to report. Had a question mark beside us and will talk with London and co. about how we go forward.

Has to talk to London and see how they are going to handle things. He likes other schools too much to come here now though.

Even before this mess I thought WVU would become our biggest recruiting threat once they joined the Big 12.

Wow. AB was the most in guy... Wow.

So was Cam Williams. But I don't think it's fair to judge any recruits if they leave us because they know what they're getting into. As opposed to back in the good days (well not good, but pre-apocalyptic) November/ till NSD when we all thought this was out of the NCAA's jurisdiction. However looking back, it appears as is Cam, Schutt, Reeves, Spence, O'Connor, am I missing anyone? all made the right decision for themselves.

Neiko Robinson remains committed to Penn State. Said of the penalties, 'It hurts.' Going to put a quick story together.

Neiko is a special young man! I like everything about him. even if he changes his mind and decomits later on I will still be a huge Neiko Robinson fan.
God bless you young man, Ball so hard!

I think if we keep a good recruiting class this year without also loosing key players to transfers we may end up beating stage IV cancer. Future recruits will see the brave are not afraid to stay and the dominoes will fall without having to wait till 2025 to sport a winning team as we may not lose our winning tradition! Feel free to insert your hardcore homer jokes towards me because I don't really care. I'm just excited to hear Mahon and Sickels are staying because momentum carries, just ask Newton. (ps. I wouldn't be surprised if Nelson was the next to reaffirm his commitment, I know he's real tight with Mahon)

  • Thought I would link an article in today's Detroit News, specifically addressing the 4 kids from Michigan on the PSU roster. Some discouraging comments from Sean McHugh and Anthony Zettel's father.

There was a rumor a week or two ago about Zettel transferring for homesickness reasons anyway. He's gone.

I actually agree if we can keep the core of this class together then it will be a LOT easier moving forward. Mix in an 8 win season next year. Followed by one rough year of recruiting we can get back on our feet after that and start talking to kids about playing in 2-3 bowls in thier career.

Agreed. There will be still plenty of scholarship players and walk-ons left. Will they be any good is the real question. Let's hope BOB can coach.
