Recruiting Angle for 2013 (I hope)

  • First, as someone else mentioned I hope the Pats win and win big. Then Coach BO'B can wear that when meeting with recruits and say "Any other coaches that you have met with have one of these?"

Second, I'd like to see him bring the Pats mentalitiy that it's the other teams job to stop them from scoring. Sure I like the classy approach of not running a score up, but we could use a few 63 - 10 wins in the first 3 to 5 games. That will be momentum in and of itself, plus he can say to all the top-flight Offensive recruits - "If you want to put up yards and points, this is where you want to play!" As for the Def recruits, he not only has our 2 best back, but also Roof who can hold his hand out and show a National Title ring - whic hhe earned on the Def side of the ball.

Our 2013 class will be based on what happens on the field. And the good news is our class that is Junior heavy is super talented and should play really well for the next 2 seasons. You watch...

  • Angle.

BOB NFL OC. Hopefully SB winning OC.

LJ- Best DL coach for getting into the NFL

Vandy- Has put many LBs in the NFL

Hixon= Coached at NFL for past 6+ years, sell he knows what it takes to get to the NFL.

BOB system...Pro Style offense. No top classes ahead of them. Early PT if they deserve it.

I guess I should warn you, if I turn out to be particularly clear, you've probably misunderstood what I've said.

  • I wouldn't say roof "earned" that national title ring.. The overall d was average and the secondary was amongst the worst in the nation.. I give him props for containing ore tho

  • Roof butted heads with Chizik when calling the defense. That is probably why the defense was so bad.

OB will give him free reign to be aggressive, something our D lacked last year.

  • Check out this article and keep it in mind when considering Roof's record at Auburn.

What happened to Gene Chizik's first two recruiting classes at Auburn?

    Forty-three percent of Auburn's 2009 and 2010 signees aren't on the team

Interesting, I knew as soon as Roof was hired many rumbled and weren't satisfied. I'm curious as to how many of those recruits Roof was responsible for bringing in as you could say he did enough with less and even brought them in. He has no control to the happenings after they sign. Not to paint our players as saints because we've had issues as well but the kids we bring in our coaches believe wont put themselves in those situations. Having the freedom from BOB and a front 7 coached by 2 accomplished coaches with better players should result in better production. I question the back end with lack of depth and I don't know know how these players will fit in a more aggressive scheme as Houston torched us over the top playing a soft cover 3 with a 9 yard cushion.

Penn State 7x National Champs, home of the winningest college football coach to ever grace a sideline.

Which one of our QBs do you see leading us to 63 points in a game? Hell, I'd take 63 total points over a 2 game stretch if I could get it!

Not to mention a couple "all star" defensive coaches in LJ and Vandy to help solidify the defense.....

I as well hope you are right too. And welcome, always nice to see fellow Nutmegers on board! You see Silas and Fortt play in HS?

  • I agree that I hope BOB wins on Sunday and that it will have a positive effect on recruiting. I'm less optimistic that bext year's offense will be blowing teams out. BOB could be an X and O genius but if you don't have enough talent it can only go so far.
The angle that I hope the staff takes with recruits is early playing time, especially at key positions where we are thin. Also I hope PSU talks up the importance of playing in a pro-style offense. NFL teams typically don't run the spread or the option so performance in our offense means more to scouts.

The interesting thing is that McGloin put quite a few points on the board in 2010 - 33 against Minny, 41 against Michigan, 35 against NW, and 41 against Indy. He even had a nice first half against the Bucks (until they figured out they could jam our WR's at the LOS).

To me it was amazing McGloin couldn't do the same against some teams this year - maybe because our WR couldn't get off the line and because our offense was too predictable - and maybe because he only played half a game for half the season.

One other major weapon we have coming back is our kicking game. Fera was very good in 2011 and I expect him to be outstanding in 2012.

Because those defenses sucked worse than McGloin does at QB and we played better teams in the B1G this year.

  • The recruiting angle I expect this staff to take for guys on offense is the chance to play in a pro style system and develop your skills by some great college/NFL coaches at their respective positions.

For defense, we always have stellar defenses and will continue to in the future. We are LBU and if you look in the NFL right now, we have about half a dozen LB's playing or seeing significant time. You can be coached by some of the best defensive coaches in college football if you're a LB or DL.
