Rebuilding Year

  • 1.I am sick of the negativity on this board. Put some things into perspective. We have only 2 returning starters on offense if you count McGloin and 5 starters on defense. We lost our 4 best WR fro last year. 4 OL, our star offensive weapon (Silas), our entire secondary, and our best defensive player. Not to mention, our kicker/punter.

2.Yes this team has struggled, yes they need to make plays, but no we are not screwed for the next couple of years? Why? We have a very good group of young players and some very passionate recruits who are going to bring new energy to the program.

    3. Why did we lose today? Simple, we do not have the experience to finish. Let's not bash our players for these struggles. Remember these guys could have left us in the dust and our trying their best to win.

    4. So instead of complaining about BOB, Roof, or criticizing every bad play, let's tweet, FB message, or do whatever you can too support these guys and let them know that we are still with them. They need to know that the fans have confidence in them so they can have confidence in themselves.\

    5. Oh yeah and WE ARE...Penn State.

Also consider this: new system, injuries, youth, I felt officiating against us today was terrible.

  • Honestly, the negativity and asinine comments keep me from becoming a vip member. Why pay for something, when all the people around are saying the sky is falling and end of the world is near. I'd rather get my information a day after the fact, then feel obligated to sift through all the negative bs.

  • My primary concern remains players leaving in February. Won't be a rebuilding year if all of the rebuilding pieces disappear.

Much harder to transfer than you think. Friends, classes and community mean much more to most of these kids than playing in a bowl game. I have been there and these kids want to prove their abilities to friends, teammates and community.

  • What happens after the season can be addressed then, but having a negative attitude towards our young, inexperienced, but improving players certainly won't help anything.

I can't keep track of who's VIP or not since I'm on the mobile site most of the time but it seems this site is not as negative as the other sites.

The program needs to start getting results. That is the only thing that will help anything.

How has losing affected ND's fan support and attendance over the last 25 years? I have no idea but I suspect not much.

They are not bathed in scandal and sanctions. They still have their history and tradition in tact.

I wasn't referring to fan support and attendance. Although, PSU's has been slowly diminishing prior to this debacle anyways. This next 5-7 year period will serve as an interesting case study for the endurance of the fan base.

agree, BUT, we did not lose many defensive players, and to let 18-20 3rd down conversations happen in the second half of both games is completely rediculous, even with fagnano back at safety, that is way way way to many times, considering four of them have been over 15 yards

Step has a lot to do with it, and is hurting as much as the losing.

You will see who the true, loyal fans are over the course of the next decade or so. Sometimes you must fall, really hard, in order to get back up and be triumphant.

  • Wow - just reading through this thread and can't believe some of the negative comments here. This team is very young, especially on offense and in the secondary, and I saw a big improvement from last week. Yes they have some issues, but if they can keep growing and learning like they did this past week, they are going to do better then many are proclaiming here. I respect these kids for sticking with the program, working hard each week, and not quiting (physicially or emotionally). I think we will begin to see a lot more positives - like we did this week.

The next couple years don't have to be as gloomy as some proclaim - if these young players develop, we get a group of core recruits each year, and the fans continue to support the team, these years won't be as dark as many predict.

I debated about going to the game today, but after watching them fight last week I felt they needed my support so made the 6 hour drive down there. I will be at every home game and trying to get to another away game. I don't see these kids giving up, and I think they will only continue to get better. Thats what they showed me this week and I sure intend not to give up on them, and I hope other fans don't give up either. We need to fill Beaver Stadium every week and cheer loud and often even during the rough times.
