  • So where is PSU standing with the RB's right now? Is it safe to say mahone and dunn are off the board? What are the chances with harris, brown lynch and loyal, i really like wes brown a lot..

    Mahone and Dunn - off

    Harris - very unlikely
Brown - Not holding my breath
Lynch - Maybe, but he doesn't really make me go wow, we got our guy.

Let's be honest here, Silas Redd grew up a huge PSU fan, otherwise we're really scratching and clawing.

We should recruit 1 RB, 1QB, 1 WR - blue chip caliber EVERY YEAR. We should bring in 1 of each...EVERY YEAR.

    We don't.

  • Can anyone confirm Harris suffered a knee injury last week? I read on another board that he had an ACL injury, but havent seen it confirmed anywhere?

Sean talked to his father and denied it.

His father said it was not an ACL but they did not know the extent of it yet.

Lots of good looking 2013 RB prospects. Sadly that may be what we're looking at in terms of realistic chances at this point. I never would have thought with all of the stud RB's in this area that we would be in this situation this recruiting cycle.

People said the same thing last year when we whiffed on Huggins.

  • Where does PSU stand with other big time recruits like DE Darius Hamilton? I think if a big time recruit commits to Penn State, he can lure a big time RB to Happy Valley. You can check out his highlights here, 4th from top.

Hamilton has absolutely no interest in PSU and I don't think PSU tried very hard to get him.

Shell, Harris, Garmon, Dunn, Mahone, Ball. That's 6 top flight RB's essentially in our backyard that don't appear to be coming to PSU. That is much different than last year with Huggins. In addition, we had just taken Redd in the prior class. With much more importance on getting a back this year, they shouldn't be in this position right now.

I meant that people said we would be fine if we missed out on Huggins because there were a lot of RB's in our "traditional recruiting area" this year. Now we're striking out on not one but six guys looking again to next year. But just because there are some local studs next year doesn't mean we'll do any better with them. I agree we should NEVER be in this position.

  • Out of that list though, where can you really say PSU messed up? Maybe Mahone, but the more tha comes out and the more you put "2 and 2" together, the more it looks like they made the decision to pass...

Shell - Bradley's been on him since 9th grade, but he was never coming here, and may not qualify anyway.
Harris- Named us in his last top 3 with Miami and VT, but grade issues forced PS to back off, may not qualify.
Garmon- Red's been on him for two years too, but PSU wants him at DB not RB... we'll see what side he ends up on in college, but chances are, they are right... he will end up on D, just not here.
Mahone- As more and more comes out, seems obvious PSU backed off... we just don't know why? Do they feel good about someone they like better? Brown, or Dunn?
Ball- Come on... Ball committed to OSU over a year ago, can't fault anyone on that one. He's an Ohio kid that dreamt of being a Buckeye, it happens.
Dunn- "watch what a recruit does, not what he says"... what he has done is come to campus twice in two months, and says he's coming back for an official... also said he hasn't spoken to OSU coaches all summer and turned down a trip to the Big House-Night game with his teammates and cousin (who committed to UM) to come to the Bama game. Not sure why some are so convinced we are 3rd behind Michigan... nothing Dunn has said or done, leads to that conclusion

    I'll add another one...
Brown- What we think is "out of no where" Brown names us in his top 5, with no mention of any SEC teams... though it was believed all along he was going south... LJ has obviously been doing work on this one, can he bring it home?

I agree, that last year after the Huggins situation, it was easy to say "that's OK... there are alot of RB's in our back yard for next year, etc ".... and now we are saying it again this year... it's not good. But just like the momentum rolls in your direction for some commits like it did this year with Shcutt, Lewis and Armani... sometimes, out of anyone's control it goes the other way... Unfortunately that seems to be the case in 2012 with RB's...

Oh, so we are on the same page then. Yes, it's very disappointing but also not surprising.

  • Here in northeast ohio, where my closest friends are OSU and UM fans...getting Dunn would be a pretty big deal for me!
However, in an earlier post it was stated that he "skipped a night game at UM to visit PSU" but from what I gathered he was not allowed to visit UM that night because he had visited too recently. Either way, I'm thankful that he wasn't there!

I don't think visiting too recently exists lol there's recruits that go to some
schools every weekend for home games

If you're right then that's great news for Penn State. Many locals feel that Dunn and Dymonte will be going to college together. If Dunn chose to visit PSU on the night his cousin was heading to Ann Arbor, that means a lot. It had originally been reported by the newspaper guy in Dunn's town that he was attending the game with Dymonte, then it didn't happen.
