Priceless: Kiffin explains in detail the SC pursuit of Silas

I'll give our Trojan friends the benefit of the doubt though considering that this is coming from the media.

    Imagine that.

That's awesome. Allegedly fled the scene of a car wreck intoxicated, left some chick behind that he was having an affair with to take the fall and didn't pay for the damages of the loaned car because he left for USC shortly thereafter. Real classy guy!

i know this is off topic but why in the world would lane even think about cheating on that wife of his. She is smoking! Maybe she's crazy but damn man...just damn

Who the fuck cares it's over. Kiffin lived up to expectations and Redd didn't.

We were making fun of Kiffin droping about $75,000 in one day to recruit Redd and going a national radio show to brag about it, Kiffin comes off as a complete tool! If you don't think there's something seriously wrong with dropping that kind cash on one player in college football then your part of the problem.

No one should be proud of the way any of this has gone down.

Where did Kiffin or sc drop 75k?

Lol at the down votes. I didn't even say anything disparaging about penn state.

That sure looked like a reputable Website. Is the next lane Kiffin link going to be from bleacher report?

Again, I don't think any PSU fan should be calling any coach or other team unethical.

He's a scumbag! And this kind of story should be sent to your hero, Emmert, who is one of the biggest jackasses and hypocrites to walk the face of earth.

If USC were a public university, with elected trustees, subject to Freedom of Information Act requests, the Trojans probably couldn't get away with this. They would at least have to fake guilt for their scandals. Somebody would step up and say enough already

  • Why is sending 6 coaches to meet Silas "unethical"?

Me thinks the topic of ethics should not be touched on this board.

A lot of misguided anger ITT.

    GTFO of here.

75k on a trip to recruit a kid and its no big deal?

You dont have to be a Penn Stat fan to realize this is the epitome of the hipocricy of Mark Emmert and the NCAA. Get real.

Didn't illinois send six coaches to your campus to recruit players? And so what if he's being "hypocritical" about the situation. What's done is done. Complaining about him being hypocritical isn't going to get you Silas back so why dwell on the situation.?

  • It only takes one Nu'Keese to ruin the name for the rest of them...
Best part, I dont see it in this story, but from memory, pretty sure Jackson was allowed back on the team and played again that season and left the following spring.

  • Yet the NCAA insists that we are Football First and need to change our culture. Glad they helped orchestrate this demonstration of how a quality academic institution runs their athletic department.

  • I think the USC people on this site are becoming very very insecure. They are running over here to see what is being posted on this site and if they don't agree, feel the need to post. If you don't like it, stay away. It's not rocket science.

It is way over the top. If Lane was the salesman you say he is, he could have done it with two. No need to bring the mob with him.

The misguided anger as you call it is justified in every instance. Again, don't like the conversation here, you don't have to continue to run back and visit. It's simple.

Why are you on this site other than to gloat obviously. Kiffin is a scumbag, you all know it yet somehow he pulls the wool over the eyes of fans and recruits. I will look for your opinion on him when he screws over USC and bolts for the NFL when a job opens up in the near future.

Ask Urban. He slept with a coed in Gainesville while being married to a hot wife. Don't think it doesn't happen.

It's a message board right? I'm stating my opinion on something which i thought was allowed?

And like i said i don't care who you call unethical, it just doesn't make sense for your fanbase to do it that's all.

Again, don't like the tone on this board ... leave. You are a very very insecure person. You probably come here every 15 minutes to see what bad stuff PSU fans are posting about your program - just like OSU fans do here as well. This won't stop for a while here. Again, its not rocket science.

Show me the facts. And go ahead i don't care. It just seems funny that your fanbase out of all fanbases think you have the right to call someone unethical.

I hope you know that Penn State fans are probably against Sandusky's actions moreso than anyone because it happened on our campus. A vast majority of us also agree that the inactions of Spanier, Schultz, Curley, and Paterno were heinous. So yes, yes indeed the fans who had nothing to do with it are in a perfect place to call Lame Kiffin out for being unethical.

what numbnuts forgets ... there are alot of parents and grandparents on this site. The way he posts, he thinks we approve of Sandusky's actions.

  • Back to the issue of Lane's recruiting tactics for Redd. The use of a booster provided private plane, 6 different coaches, helicopters, etc. raises a lot of issues for me.

    1) How does that not create a competitive advantage? The use of a private booster plane for recruiting or a helicopter (looking at you Schiano and RU), etc. absolutely creates a competitive advantage in recruiting versus their peers. Think Temple, Old Dominion, East Carolina, etc. have access to those?

    2) I am still furious that the NCAA suspended all rules regarding the recruitment of PSU players. I understand the need to allow players to freely transfer away from a program with significant sanctions, but it's the wild west out there. During recruitment of HS players, only a certain number of coaches can be off-campus recruiting at one time, there are limitations on the type, number, and location of recruiting contacts, etc. And to allow schools to go over scholarship limits to take on PSU players, how is that not a competitive advantage versus their peers?

    3) I don't care what any SC fans says. Giving a former walk-on a scholarship after he worked his ass off and earned it, then yanking it away is shi**y and unethical. The NCAA should not have allowed any sanctioned program to benefit from the situation, and definitely should not have allowed school's to yank scholarships away from other kids to take on players.

Emmerts "culture of reverence for football" indeed.

    Ehoffman

  • What do you think private jets cost? Do you have any clue what a coast to coast trip on a private jet cost? Bare minium is $25,000. How about the other planes? $10,0000 at least.

What Lane spent would have paid for college for one year easy. Going on a national radio show bragging about it was stupid and makes your program look like winning is the only thing that matters at this level.

$75,000 was high, it was late.

I have nothing against USC but the Kiffin is cocky and rubs the World the wrong way.

  • "I picked up the phone, in true SC fashion and called one of our great donors Ted Jones at Fletcher Jones Mercedes and I called him when we were at the SoHo House for the PAC-12 dinner and he said, 'Let me guess, you're calling about Silas. Where y'at?'"

"So he sent his big ole Mercedes jet which was in Vegas to pick us up in LA. We got done with the PAC-12 meetings. We flew to White Plains, NY. It was myself, my dad, our running backs coach, our o-line coach."

This is what really bothers me... This clearly isn't the first favor Ted Jones was called upon to perform. This is clockwork from repetition.

'Let me guess, you're calling about Browne. Where y'at?'
'Let me guess, you're calling about Vanderdoes. Where y'at?'
'Let me guess, you're calling about Cravens. Where y'at?'
'Let me guess, you're calling about Bigelow. Where y'at?'
