Priceless: Kiffin explains in detail the SC pursuit of Silas

  • SPrice said...

Didn't PSU recruit USC players when this happened.? Why not return the favor. Seems like the only fair thing to do. You guys steady bash kiffin for being a slimeball yet he hasn't broken any rules in recruiting silas. You can't call him a slimeball for being hypocritical. It's all sour grapes on your end.

First, don't be an ass, and second to my knowledge no we didn't recruit SC players.

Again, I don't think any PSU fan should be calling any coach or other team unethical.

Just because of what happened does not mean we cant call other coaches unethical when it is based on fact.

  • Show me the facts. And go ahead i don't care. It just seems funny that your fanbase out of all fanbases think you have the right to call someone unethical.

Kiffin bailed on Tennessee after 1 year, and then left them with a boatload of sanctions. I can't recall if he was fired or he bailed on the raiders after 1 year.

I reserve judgement on his sliminess, but he's definitely going down that road.

I agree with a decent amount of what you said. However, you are on a different team's board telling those fans how they should feel. It's unbecoming and annoying. This is an incredibly touchy subject and you have no right to call out fans. You're also twisting words, which is unnecessary.

As for the ethics question, why can we not say something is unethical? Just because something unethical happened at PSU means that our fans cannot point out something they believe is unethical? I don't think LK was unethical, but I understand why others might. Can a criminal not call another person who commits a crime a criminal, just because he's a criminal? No, that's an unintelligent argument.

I have no issues with how Kiffin did it. Did Kiffin call PSU and let them know they were going to recruit Redd?

My main issue is how Kiffin felt 3 years ago, then to turn around and do it is a bit hypocritical.

He didn't call O'Brien. They sent a fax or whatever was required. As he said, when it was open season on USC players, he didn't get a single call. Didn't really expect on.

I don't think it's hypocritical for him to go after Redd (after Redd's dad called him). He didn't like it when SC players were poached. And I'm sure he knows O'Brien isn't happy. But I don't recall him criticizing other coaches for what they did. He criticized the rule for allowing it, but understands that if the rules allow it, coaches are going to do it.

It's a message board right? I'm stating my opinion on something which i thought was allowed?

And like i said i don't care who you call unethical, it just doesn't make sense for your fanbase to do it that's all.

Joe Paterno (whatever you may think of him, I don't defend him personally) very, very rarely took JUCO players. Only twice in my lifetime, in the same year to add O-Line depth. He didn't recruit any USC players.

You should get off of our board if you're going to be a classless and looking to start war of words with people on a message board. You should really grow up.

    Good Day Sir.

I'll wait for your response because i would love to know what sanctions Tennessee got?

    SPrice

  • Thanks for your suggestion but ill pass. You have a nice night though.

And if Kiffin is a slimeball, what do you call a coach who protected a child molester? I liked Paterno and I know he did what he did to protect the football program but doesn't his actions change your perception of him?

You call Kiffin a slimeball, but what is Joe Paterno?

How exactly do you know this? Or are you just assuming because it's what ESPN told you to think?

Just because Kiffin found a way to squirm out of further sanctions against him other than the probation that Tennessee self-imposed doesn't mean this guy isn't slimy. Then again, I'm sure you believe that he's the model of compliance, even though he was a walking secondary violation from day 1 of being hired in Knoxville. He's lucky. We'll see how long that luck lasts or until he's exposed as a fraud trading on his father's last name.

Yes, we do have the right. So does every other fanbase. What did anyone on this board, who is calling Kiffin unethical, have to do with regards to the Sandusky mess?

I've never heard of anything like this. 6 coaches were in Happy Valley. You got to read how Lane Kiffin describes this.

Kiffin called his high school coach to let them know we are interested. Silas could of said no thanks and we would of moved on. Also, Kiffin wasn't in happy valley. They met in Conneticut.

  • I'm out of downvotes anybody have some to spare for our spartan neighbor?

Troll, go back to your own board and dispute this amongst friends. Yes, I think sending 6 coaches to poach a player from a team that was just hit with extreme sanctions that questionably falls under the NCAA's territory is unethical

  • 1. USC has been cheating since before the days of paying OJ Simpson. They wrote the book on cheating.

    2. I don't see any USC fan in this thread with knowledge of the details of the Freeh Report . They didn't read the emails. They're just regurgitating the story that the national media pushed.

Who the fuck cares it's over. Kiffin lived up to expectations and Redd didn't.

We were making fun of Kiffin droping about $75,000 in one day to recruit Redd and going a national radio show to brag about it, Kiffin comes off as a complete tool! If you don't think there's something seriously wrong with dropping that kind cash on one player in college football then your part of the problem.

No one should be proud of the way any of this has gone down.

  • That's awesome. Allegedly fled the scene of a car wreck intoxicated, left some chick behind that he was having an affair with to take the fall and didn't pay for the damages of the loaned car because he left for USC shortly thereafter. Real classy guy!

I'll give our Trojan friends the benefit of the doubt though considering that this is coming from the media.
