I assume he'll have full eligibility, right? 5 years to play 4?

I don't recall having watched any HS tape on McGloin at the time he committed to walk-on, but for anyone who has that film or recalls what they thought about him coming out of HS, I was wondering on how Whipple and Crook (great names btw) compare to McGloin at the same stage?

Just curious because: 1) you never know, and 2) just think if we had a *stud* QB this year starting and had the luxury of a guy like McGloin being the back-up. That would be a nice setup. I'm thinking about down the line if Hack or Bench turn out to be studs, having run-on QB at least the caliber of McGloin--competent and able to run the offense well--would be huge.

Having bodies at QB this spring will be nice. I like Whipple a lot, and while I don't think Crook has Whipple's talent, he's definitely going to provide nice depth at QB.

I don't know what people are looking at with Whipple to say that he's clearly a better "talent" than Crook.... the only demonstrable difference between the two on film--that I noticed anyway--was Whipple's mechanics, in particular his footwork, which was VERY good for a HS kid. Credit to his father, amongst others, no doubt.

Crooks' footwork looks a little lazy at times, but I think his pure athleticism and "arm-talent" are comparable to Whipple's in a purely physical sense.

What did everyone else see in Whipple that I may be missing? (Assuming we're all watching the same highlight tapes, not just that someone's see him in person, etc.)

Responding to GRS 154 First, I would bet a few bucks on Crook not being anywhere close to 6'2". I bet he is 6'0". So I thought Whipple had more protypical size. Further, I thought Whipple had better mechanics in his throwing motion and threw a more accurate ball. I actually was thrilled with Whipple as a walk on. I like Crook and think he appears to be a real good athlete. Just my opinion. I think it is great to get a kid like Crook in the program.
