So I have a question. How is Kessler and Temple doing, the local news hasn't talked about them in a while.

Kessler's doing very well. Working hard to secure 2nd string. Temple's a great team player and we're expecting he'll provide solid depth if called upon.

    Well she is welcome here.

Nice to see a place where USC and Penn State fan can come together. Brings tears to my eyes. A lot to share with each other.

Is that Bastion in your pic? Hard to tell since it's so small, but if so, great game.

I can... he has talked up this game like he was true blue for 3 years and now when he is supposed to be the leader of the team ...he is contemplating a move to USC. How the hell do we sell the program to anyone if the guy who would be our potential all time leading rusher is flirting with Lane Kiffin of all people...How does anything that happened today affect SR...so he doesn't get to go to a Bowl game !

USC fan here. Although the idea of getting a big, physical back who can take punishment seems very intriguing to our team, deep down I hope this does not happen and you guys can keep your team together. This hits close to home as a USC fan because I know the effect this can have on morale and sense of pride as a fan. This just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I hope your senior leadership steps up and try to keep your team together. I am pulling for you guys and hope you come out of this fighting all the way, just like we did. Good luck.

They've both made big jumps this spring and summer...still neck 'n neck.

Here is the lastest on Kessler: http://usc.247sports.com/Article/Cody-Kessler-Welcomes-The-Role-Of-Being-A-Teacher-81551

  • I always liked Pete Carroll when others didn't like him. I saw some stuff on how he was very involved with underprivileged individuals that really changed my mind about him. I personally think its not the coach but the culture that surrounds the campus. Its LA! Lots of agents have houses out there probably, its unfortunate that agents only care about themselves.

  • I'll be honest SC fans, I was always indifferent about your program. I liked the flash, I loved the history, but I wasn't sure about you guys. I think it was probably the stigma that you guys cheated. As an Catholic I've always had a slight affinity toward ND, and rooted against you in the "Reggie Bush Push" game as I call it. But since then and especially more recently I've been rooting for you guys. Barkley's a stud (I'm a Bronco's fan and before Peyton I was more than willing to tank for him) and when you guys beat Oregon last year, I was extremely happy. I will be cheering for you guys to win it all this year. My only request is when you accept the trophy the phrase, "F*** you Emmert, f*** you NCAA!" is used.

You will find that people out there will chose to believe the worst. It's just beginning for Penn State fans, and the sad part is...people don't want to know the truth, it suits their agenda to believe the worst. It softens the fact they lost to a cheater, no?

Thing is, USC did not cheat, a player was ineligible because he took impermissible benefits from a would-be agent. If you have interest, here is another link by ESPN's Ted Miller, who dispels some common untruths...Ted provides links from others to make his point. This is an interesting quote, something tells me you will experience the same...condemnation simply for your "Penn State-ness"

Let me share a story that will annoy USC fans but many will find interesting. During a flight delay last year, I was cornered at an airport by an administrator from a major program outside the Pac-12. He made fun of me as a "USC fanboy" because of my rants against the NCAA ruling against the Trojans. But we started talking. Turned out he agreed with just about all my points. (He just didn't like USC.)

He told me, after some small talk and off-the-record, that "everybody" thought USC got screwed. He said that he thought the NCAA was trying to scare everyone with the ruling, but subsequent major violations cases put it in a pickle.

Then he told me that USC was punished for its "USC-ness," that while many teams had closed down access -- to media, to fans, etc. -- USC under Pete Carroll was completely open, and that was widely resented. There was a widespread belief the national media fawned on USC because of this. Further, more than a few schools thought that the presence of big-time celebrities, such as Snoop Dogg and Will Ferrell, at practices and at games constituted an unfair recruiting advantage for the Trojans.

It wasn't against the rules, but everyone hated it. This, as he assessed his own smell test, was a subtext of the so-called atmosphere of noncompliance that the NCAA referred to -- an atmosphere that oddly yielded very few instances of noncompliance around the football program even after a four-year NCAA investigation.

I'm providing this, to prepare you further...people will believe what they want to believe, just because they don't like your university culture. It happened to us.

Thank you so much, it means a lot.

Any of you, if you are in Los Angeles any time during football season, and wish to attend a USC game, you are welcome to eat at out tailgate, and you're welcome to wear your colors proudly. No one will give you a hard time.

My friends and I are part of the "Thundering Herd" fans that line the tunnel of the Coliseum...the ardent USC fans, lol.

All you need do, is pm me here and let me know if you can attend, I'll make sure you're well fed!

Can I take you up on that? I'll probably be out there at least one game (Oregon definitely). I'll stuff JT in my carry on.

I was at the Stanford game last year and you're right, that was a great moment at the end of a great game.

    Oh, yes sir.

Actually, no they didn't. Your senior class was allowed to leave.

The way the NCAA is allowing schools to poach these players from PSU goes beyond their book. If kid decides to transfer, he lets PSU know and he contacts the school - like any normal transfer. You can't allow schools poach kids like high school recruits. That ain't right.

If I'm PSU, I don't show up to BIG Media Day. Not a chance. It won't be about football.

I don't know if I'd classify Silas as a 'big physical back.' He can more than hold his own inside, but he's a cutter - rubbery. He's not an Eddie George run you over back.

Hey - he spent all spring learning Bob's offense. He's the man.

At USC he'd need to learn yet a new offense. Plus they already have a Senior 1000yd back. He'd be the 2nd back this year, and the top back in 2013. Those 2 factors mean an extra year in college, not in the NFL (ask WIllis MacGahee about extra college carries).

If he stays, he can learn under OB, train under Fitzgerald. Have a great year in OB's system, and he's a high round pick in the NEXT draft. And he can probably finish his degree at PSU.

Oh yeah, and he's revered for his leadership forever - and he'd always have a home in Happy Valley.

  • Bowl games are national showcases. Play against a non-conf solid opp on a neutral site. SOme of us are acting like bowl games are pre-season scrimmages that nobody cares about anyway. That is nutso. Bowls are a HUGE part of CFB... huge. I go to most PSU bowl games and the bowl trips are a highlight for teh players, the energy, teh fanfare.... and then to cap a season off with a win against LSU or UTenn or FSU or A and M or whoever, it is memorable and big and noticed by the cfb world. And to not be able to play in teh B10 title game? huge.

I can't blame Silas or any of our kids if they bolt.

  • As much as I'd hate to see Silas leave... If he decides to jump ship I hope it is to USC. Where he can win a Hiesman, then in his acceptance speech he can say he did it for Joe!

Our juniors were allowed to leave as well...Malik Jackson made All SEC, played for TN two years.

Two year bowl ban, juniors and seniors allowed to leave. Penn State unjustly received a four year ban, therefore it makes your entire team eligible to leave. Absolutely horrible.

IIRC, it didn't turn into a recruiting frenzy like recruiting high school athletes. Schools didn't call USC and say we are recruiting XXX. Didn't the kids say I want to transfer and then give USC a list of schools? Pretty disgusting move by the NCAA as far as PSU. Schools on probation, like OSU, could say we want Silas Redd.
