I second this..I remember all too well how much this hurt, the free agency of our players.

Emotions are high right now, for the players especially. Good luck.

Did they allow the recruitment of players like this when you got hit?

If you get Silas, you're getting an All-American type RB.

Unbelievable character as well. I'll still root for him as in the BCS game if y'all make it, even though OU is my second-favorite team that I grew up rooting for.

  • Any school currently on NCAA sanctions should not be eligible to take a Penn State player without a year off, and should in no way have any adjustments to their scholarship limit. You want to see the NCAA look like bigger fools than ever? It'll be when a sanctioned program can steal, with NCAA advantages, from another sanctioned program.

This is gonna be interesting to watch.......

I knew that for juniors and seniors, but I wasn't sure about the open recruitment which is going on here.

This is unreal. You know I always kind of rolled my eyes when I heard people complain about the NCAA. But now i understand. What a currupt, self serving organization.

It probably went something like this:

Bill O'Brien: "Hi Lane, Bill O'Brien" Lane Kiffin: "Hey Bill, I am sorry to hear about the harsh sanctions" OB: "Actually that's what I called to ask about. I understand USC has also had to deal with scholarship limitations." Kiffin: "Yes" OB: "Would you be able to offer any suggestions regarding how to overcome this recruiting obstacle." Kiffin: "Well you see, I coach at USC so we can just fill all 15 spots with 5 stars and 6'5" WRs. But, umm I guess just be more thorough in your evaluation process to maximize potential of all signees." OB: "Okay I'll keep that in mind (even though a 12 year old could've told me that). Thank you for your time Lane." Kiffin: "Wait, wait, Bill. I have one last thing to mention." OB: "Please" Kiffin: "Yea, by the way ummm i know your going through tough times and all. But I'm thinking Silas Redd, your unanimously best offensive player, would do us wonders over at USC." OB: F you Lane

But in all seriousness this would really be a shame to lose Silas. Hes a great kid and one helluva ball player.

    That's awesome. +1

That is not true. We can have 85 the next two years, then 65 for the following four years.

Don't let facts get in his way of his preaching and scolding. Like we can't feel for victims and hope we don't lose great student athletes like Si!

Why would you be physically sick? Seriously is it that important in light of everything? You have no control over the situation. Silas will make the best decision for himself. First of all PSU can only have 75 guys on scholarship this year, as far as I know. So unless they had less then 85 players on scholarship, ten have to go, or choose To participate in academics only.

PSU doesnt have to have 75 scholarship players this year, or next year for that matter. Scholarship reductions dont start until 2014. And forgive me for being upset if my favorite player decides to leave the team that I love. Are you really trying to give me a lecture on the scope of the situation?

When has the NCAA done anything fair, or logical?

After all, they appointed Paul Dee - you know, the same Paul Dee who was the AD at Miami, the dirtiest program in the history of the world, the one who said "high-profile athletes demand high-profile compliance" - the head of the COI that sat in judgement of USC.

They have their own warped sense of logic and justice.

    Indeed.

Do us a favor and cheer for us -- be an honorary fan for the next few years as we attempt to get "revenge" on the NCAA for punishing fans, students, and current athletes instead of those responsible for the violation/crime.

  • @OptimumScouting:
Just heard from source who has spoken with someone close to #PennSt RB Silas Redd that there is "no chance" he transfers"

...some guy commented though and claims Silas is leaving his house with bags and a ticket for LAX lol.

If we are below the 85 limit this year, can we count those towards the future loss? Meaning we could lose 5 less down the road if we lose 5 this season? Because there is no way we will be at 85 with our players being poached, unless we pass scholarships out like candy to all the walk-ons.

That would be nice, wasn't OSU able to do something like that?
