Piped in music in between plays

  • Attended the game on Saturday. Some good stuff, some bad. One of the cheesy, out-of-place touches was blaring music in between plays. It was amateurish. At some points the damn PA system was blaring music as Ohio was about to snap the ball. On one play it was so bad that I was expecting the refs to throw a flag or issue a warning.

Anyone else notice this? I think someone may have theorized that the audio crew was doing everything they could to prevent crowd-started "JoePa" chants.

Ya I noticed that it was playing almost until ohio snapped the ball. It was close a few times. I think this has been happening for a few years now. I don't think it was an attempt to block out the JoePa chants.

I like the piped in music. I remember the stadium atmosphere before the music, and it was a joke. People would talk about everything but the game, and this is while the game was going on!! I would only imagine it would be worse now with texting. People wouldn't even be talking during the game, they'd just have their face buried in their phone.

Guido was piping in music for years. The couple times that I took notice it was close with Ohio snapping the ball was when they were quick snapping. We were not even set a couple times they snapped the ball.

Maybe it was just me...but I couldn't send or receive texts, nor could I get online at all with my phone while at PSU.

  • Couldn't send texts or email. They certainly have some adjustments to make. It didn't seem well coordinated.

This is nothing new. At no point during any home game since OSU in '05 have I had service before/during/after a football game in State College. It kills your battery while the phone searches for a signal as well. iPhones don't stand a chance.

Yea, I just reread my original post. I didn't word it well. I know music has been played after plays in the past but....it was to a whole new level this game. It wasn't just after big plays, it seemed to be between every play. I don't remember it being it between every play in past years.

The real kicker was that it was still going while Ohio was set at the line of scrimmage a couple of times. It may have been unintentionally poor control by the operator of the system but either way it was amateurish for the music to be blaring as Ohio was set and the QB was calling for the snap. Maybe the PA operator has some rust for the first game too? shrug
