Per Washington Post, Breneman Now to Enroll Early

  • In a note at end of article...

  • That will certainly help with recovery time IMO. College level staffs...and also, the 'bills' are paid by the schools haha. Dont have to hit up the insurance at all. :)

Good news, him getting acclimated to college life quicker is ok with me.

If you havent signed up for premium 247 yet..take my word for it...its worth it!

    Seltz

  • That will be a good decision for him. Get on campus and rehab with the Penn State staff.

    Sloepoke20

  • This is great news to help Adam finish his rehab and also begin to get acquainted with the playbook.

  • Nice move by Adam. Getting him up on campus 6 months early will help him acclimate much sooner. It stinks that he can't compete with his high school team, but under the circumstances this is a good idea!

    CharlestonLion

  • Bummer about the torn ACL, but like everyone has said here, it will definitely help with the learning curve.

Actually school medical insurance only covers injuries suffered while the student athlete was at a PSU football event/practice/etc. So while he will be able to work with the trainers, which I'm sure are top class, any other treatments like PT or getting follow up MRI's or anything like that will have to be paid for by himself, which I'm sure will be fine considering his parent don't have to pay for college anymore haha.

But I'm glad AB's coming in early. Just easier to work him in as a true freshman in 2013!

  • Cool, I just wish Hack was able to enroll early as well.

If things work out we could have douglas, AB, and Williams in school early. Hopefully I did t miss anyone.

If winning was easy even losers would do it.

    Lang06

  • Very good move on the part of AB.

    pipedope

  • I still wish the kid could play his senior year of HS ball. He has a bright future though.

    We Are27731

  • Now he can room with AA!

    LBU59

  • Very smart move. Will put him that much closer to getting a degree too.

At that pt the trainers are doing the same thing as the PTs, but as you stated other services are not covered. Hopefully an MRI would not be needed at that time unless there were some type of complication.

  • Funny b/c I thought about that yesterday, glad to see he's looking into it. On that note, I can't imagine finishing my senior year in time for the spriing semester. I'm assuming he's got to take classes this summer, right?

You're right, hopefully that stuff wouldn't be needed, but maybe follow up stuff. I disagree about the PT and trainers though. You have to remember that the trainers for the team are students and don't have a full grasp on the profession yet. They don't know all the exercises needed and most importantly how the body works and how it all connects. The senior trainer (not a student) would know most of that stuff, but it's still best to go to a qualified PT especially in situations like this where the injury is severe.

By the time he is on campus will be beyond the pt where the PTs are more valuable unless there're complications. Student ATC's who are inexperienced would not be doing rehab they're there primarily learning taping skills or toting the water around. And observing. Most of that rehab is approved by the staff trainers. They won't have the freedom to chose the rehab by themselves .

Not necessarily. I know at some high schools they just have a certain number of semesters required in different subjects (4 of english, 3 math, 3 science, etc) so if someone took the final required classes in the fall semester they could graduate early.

It's also great that his insurance is accepted by Dr. Sebiastinelli at PSU. I just hope they redshirt him to get him back to 100%.

Now I know other high schools might be different, but the core classes like Math lasted all year, so how do you fit a years worth of math on your own in half a year? Unless of course some high schools operate like college.

    stigs007

  • On that note, if Breneman and Douglas enroll early, think O'Brien will apply their scholarships to 2012's class? I'm pretty sure they're short a few scholarships.

Some schools have block scheduling and then that could be done. You could also take a math class outside of you school, but it be recognized.

His recovery should be well ahead of next fall when he could play, so I'm not sure about the redshirt. If he has surgery soon and enrolls in January he will have nearly 12 months of recovery before summer workouts. That should be plenty of time for him to complete for a spot on the team 2013 season.
