The Lions' Pride

Both of these teams will be wrecked if they play like that every game. With 3.5ish games a week, they will be gassed and probably very injured come playoff time. But today was great. Might be the best I've ever felt after a loss to the Pens. The Flyers looked very good after the first and hockey was back. Today was a good day.

Observations:
Philly's goaltending will undo them again this year.
Pen's D and Sutter were upgrades.
Going to be long games if the refs waive out guys on every single face-off. Just drop the damn puck.
I don't think Philly has a good enough 3rd line to compete with the Penguin's 3rd line.
Malkin is the best player in the league.

Once Briere is back the lines a bit different

Bryz can't be worse than last year. He was pretty good yesterday. I don't think the goal he allowed on Neal was as weak as people think. Neal has one of the best shots in the league in that given scenario. If Bryz gets injured, Philly is screwed. I think Philly's defense will undo them before its goaltending.

Sutter was pretty darn good yesterday. People got a chance to see what he brings to the table. Who on the Pittsburgh D was an upgrade? We didn't add anyone, unless you are suggesting Paul Martin awakened from his 1.5 year nap. He looked good. The upgrade was backup goalie. Glass will be a pain in the ass to the opposition.

Pittsburgh has to do something with Tangradi. He is worthless. A guy his size should be able to do something. I hope Vitale starts in his place tonight versus the Rags.

UGH.... Flyers are in a world of hurt... We play the Devils... Lost last 4... and the Rangers.... lost what?? last 10?

That is looking like 1-3 / 0-4... which is equal to 2-6 / 0-8 in a normal season.... That may end this thing before the first week. Awful effort, coaching, discipline, and just talent. AWFUL.

What are you even talking about. They played one bad period yesterday and one had period today. The offense looks fine creating chances. They scored four times today and only two counted. The Defense looks bad for sure. That needs to turn around. Two games in 21 hours in different cities after a 6 day training camp is a tall task, and they failed. Basing major analysis off of those circumstances is idiotic.

MAF also loves leaving the puck bounce around right in front of him instead of jumping on it. I think Vokoun might be the biggest piece to our success this season as we can keep MAF fresh and have some solid backup play in the playoffs if we need to.

Malkin once again looked like the best player in the game, with Neal and Letang right there too. Crosby has been doing decent defensively, and has setup some nice scoring chances. Orpik is looking more and more like his old self now that he is pretty far out from his surgery last year. The team is playing well, but we also played well for most of last season until the end...I think the shortened season along with Vokoun might just put us in the SC finals.

We'll see, we are only 2 games in the season so far but have beat 2 teams that we will probably be contending for the Atlantic and even the Eastern Conference. I think the Devils take a step back.

Not an opinion, a fact. The Flyers have consistently lacked a top goalie. Bryz is not one either. But if you want to believe that he is, well ok.

I am merely saying that if you had a great goalie, you would be tough to beat. Actually more of a compliment than anything else, but your myopia is getting the best of you again.

It is too short of a season to start off poorly.

Philly's goalie isn't the weak link on that team this year, unless Leighton has to be relied on. It's the defense. That is the biggest question. Grant Fuhr would have average numbers with a defense like that.

Coburn, Grossman and an aging Timonen are the only competent blueliners on the roster now. Foster isn't good; Gervais is garbage; Schenn has sucked since his first year in the league and then you have Meszaros who is ok. That is why they went after Suter; that is why they tried to get Weber away from Nashville. I wouldn't be shocked if they are trying to get Slewbban from Montreal. Bryz wasn't good last year. He will or should be better this year. However, with that defense ...
