You lost Dareus, but he didn't play against us last year. Nor did your fine halfback. But considering that they were the top players picked at their respective positions in the draft, you ARE losing a lot. People are too glib in thinking a genuine star is going to be approximated by his replacement. We all thought someone was going to step into Jared Odrick's shoes. Wrong! True stars aren't easily replaced.
I think AL has better overall talent. if PSU plays to win like it did at OSU last November against a much better team we can definitely put a scar into you. If we play not to lose we won't scare you and the result will be the same. I think AL figures out a way to win.

I think our edge there is that both of our QBs have started big games at home and on the road while whoever wins your job will be making his 2nd career start on the road in front of 108,000 fans at a whiteout. Talent-wise, I cant comment on because I never got to see your guys play.

Welcome, RD. Always a pleasure to converse with 'Bama fans, whether on-line or in person.
The truth about Penn State is that, aside from the wide receivers, we won't really know much about this team until the final seconds tick off the clock against Alabama. Reports from the Spring practices have indicated improvements at several positions, including defensive tackle and linebacker. However, those of us who have followed college football long enough understand that Spring reports and Fall results are not always in line with one another.
Imo, Penn State simply has too many players who must step up their games and prove themselves in order to reach the level of the Alabamas and Ohio States of the college football world. Regardless, I do hope that the game is fun to watch, and that Penn Staters treat the Tide faithful with the same universal respect and friendliness that we received last year in Tuscaloosa.

What bmorepsu said x2. Tired of that trend too. Need turnovers and early momentum.
I love our LBS this year (mostly because none are named Colasanti or Gbadyu)... But Bama's are better... Possibly the only school oin the nation I would be certain about that.

I think you guys are a strong number two. Bama is just insane here. We have excellent starters, excellent/mature depth and excellent young guys. We probably go 4 deep at all four LB positions. I honestly dont understand why top LBs continue to come here EVERY YEAR.
Sunseri is a beast recruiter and coach and kids love to play for him.

Our series with Bama is a little reminiscent of Ohio State's home-and-home series with USC. OSU got blown out on the road, then put up a good fight at home but eventually lost the game.
I see the same thing happening with PSU/Bama, except on a little worse scale. We got blown out on the road, and I see us putting up a bit of a fight at home, but I can't see us winning the game. I'd like to say we have a chance, but we really don't. I think we've got the talent to compete and possibly pull out a win...IF our coaches would actually coach. I'm just baffled as to what our coaches are waiting for. They coach these games as if they're hoping to simply get out of it without injuries, rather than actually winning the game.
