  • Powell ahead of Morris? Interesting and Smith starting.

Morris has been hurt, so that likely explains Powell being ahead of him on paper.

Also, don't expect what you see here and what we see on Saturday to be exactly the same.

  • I agree w 42...there will be many differences from this list and what we see on the field. I also agree that, unless SC gets hit by a meteor, Newsome will be the starter against YSU...and for at least a couple games following that. I think they opened up the competition partly due to Bolden's impressiveness, and partly to motivate Newsome. The staff, IMO, clearly feels more comfortable with experience (which makes sense)...so I think there's little doubt Newsome is the guy until a point in the season where Bolden has seen enough to make the leap. It really doesn't matter to me who starts... it's about who makes the least mistakes and most plays when we need them to.

  • Yeah, I am shocked, I have to say. The reports I have read mentioned only Smith and Kenney working Drake's position in the slot.

    Well, you earned it:

  • If you look at the past depth charts JoePa isn't playing around as much as you might think. Joe Ioro, Josh Hull, Francis Spano, Graham Zug, Drew Astorino and a host of other walk-ons and one or two star athletes really did start. JoePa isn't messing with you/players. This is how he sees this team today. It will be different by the end of the year, but it doesn't make it any less valid.

Yes, most freshman aren't on here, and a player or two here or there may claim a starting spot that may be rightfully theirs, but IMO this is a true reflection of what the staff thinks the depth chart is.
