He wasn't a non-qualifier. He went to JUCO because he wasn't highly recruited out of HS. Academics aren't an issue.

He's not at JUCO because he's stupid. He's at JUCO because he went to a small private school & focused a ton of attention on baseball that he missed a lot of camps to showcase his QB skills.

Anyway, I'm a big fan of this offer. Seems like a real solid QB. Good size at 6'2. Shows some nice mobility. Just a very solid QB, and a kid that'll be able to bridge the transition from McGloin to Hack or Bench. NC State doesn't worry me too much, but Kansas State does. The thing is KSU/Snyder's offense probably isn't the best fit for him. even though he shows mobility, he isn't Collin Klein, Josh Freeman (big time runner in college), or Eli Roberson. PSU & Bill O'Brien will give him the best coaching/offensive system IMO, but he will be giving up playing in bowl games.

So basically, how does he feel about KSU's offense & not playing in bowl games at PSU.

Would be fantastic if we could land this kid. I certainly am not going to count on it, but it would go a long way toward a decent season next year if he went to PSU. (Will say that I think highly of Bench, but prefer having a QB with experience).

Jake did not attend camps because IA HS baseball plays a summer schedule.

Telling a young man that he has a 50/50 shot at leaving spring practice with the advantage to being the starter should be enticing. Depending on if Hack RS or not he will have at least a 1/3 chance to play in front of around 100K fans. Would be hard to turn down. Just glancing at K-state's roster they have 4 freshman, 1 sophomore, and 1 commit at QB. With BOB's offense it would be hard to ignore us, bowl games or not.

And actually understands that class is important... and doesn't have trouble academically lol He wouldn't fit in at OSU...
