HA, yeah I don't think you will get anyone outside of Penn State fan base to give you a share.

Who did you all play in the bowl that year? Also what was their ranking? What was the score?

I think it was a matter of who we played all year. PSU#17 ranked schedule and NU #73. Michigan screwed us that year giving up the Hail Mary to Colorado. We were a fun team to watch.
    Good luck next week.

Big 8 schedule so they only played 1 team all year, OU. They would throw in a UCLA to give the boys a nice road trip! Okay, CU was good every blue moon.

  • Having lived in Omaha for two years and going to the last Penn St vs. Nebraska played there. The game was awesome!! The Nebraska fans were absolutely terrific. Great to tailgate with and great game day appreciation for Penn St. Respect the hell out of their fans when they waited at the end when Penn St was leaving the field and gave Joe and the entire team a standing ovation. Class!! All class !! I'll never forget that game!!

I have seen them play CU and trash cars with Colorado license plates so my experience is a little bit different. Maybe because CU was in the same conference and played them every year.

Also Sal Aunese was a CU QB who died of cancer. I remember Little Red fans, and it was enough to hear in the stadium, chanting Sal is dead, go big red. Lost all respect!

If Rex plays then Hill playing becomes even more crucial than it typically is. Our front 7 is obviously our strength, and despite Martinez's improvement as a passer, I still don't think he can beat us alone. What do you guys have on the outside?

Rex is a threat no doubt, Ameer is equally as dangerous.

    Outside we have-
    #80 Kenny Bell (Leading WR)
#18 Quincy Enunwa (Big body WR)
#10 Jamal Turner (Poor mans Percy Harvin)
#21 Steven Osborne Tall lenky WR
Also Tim Marlowe, but pretty sure he reinjured his collar bone tonight

#81 TE Ben Cotton (blocking TE, with good hands)
#25 Kyler Reed fast mismatch type TE
#5 Braylon Heard RB (extremely fast)
    #8 Ameer Abdullah RB

Also, their D plays better against a pro style QB than a runner. Sound familiar? I expect a blitz aggressive D against us.

Very true, when we go against a pocket passer we tend to blitz a lot more, and plan bump n run man with our bigger corners. We have destroyed many a pocket passer in the BIGXII, that was our specialty.

I can't remember that on Sal, thats not typical for NU fans...

In all honesty the only fans we really give a hard time to were CU fans.

I had my mustang flipped upside down in boulder. After that I never returned, then to watch the student section get thrown out of the game in 01? that was crazy.

We beat #9 Oregon in the Rose Bowl 38-20.

You meant to say that all 18 people in Nebraska feel like the 94 NU team was better than the 94 PSU team.
Those 18 people and all the sports writers that felt bad for Tom, because he had never won a championship before.

Poor Tom won that championship for you. Not the fact that your team was better than ours.

  • Thanks for the offer. Husker fans and the team acted with a lot of class after IT happened last November.

I am looking forward to being in Lincoln for the game.

Where are the good places to eat? Any brewpubs?

I always like to walk the campus to get a feel of the school. What are the highlights of the Nebraska campus.

Great food can be found all over downtown and especially in the Haymarket. Lazlo's is your best brewpub option, they house Empyrean Brewing Co, Lincoln main brewery (their Watchman IPA is pretty solid as is their ESB while their seasonals are usually good bets as well). Single Barrel recently started serving food and it is spectacular (Bison Reuben is wow). Misty's Steakhouse, Dish, Dozo (sushi), Brix & Stone Gastropub, The Oven (indian), El Potrero (mexican), JTK (bring your wallet), Vincenzo's (italian), Blue Orchid (thai), and numerous pizza shops (Yia Yia's is my personal favorite and has a huge bottled beer selection and several micros on tap).

If you are looking for a great microbrew selection and a cigar hit Jake's at 14th and P (It will be packed but the tap selection is worth it as they are constantly rotating recently released beers).

You better eat a Runza while you are in town; I go for the Swiss Mushroom.

I think it had more to do with beating the #1 team in the country in what might as well of been a home game for them.

  • PSU fans sure are ornery. Don't know why people can't just be civil and engage in good discussion about football teams. This isn't 1994, this is 2012.

They have decent recievers and Cotton is a nice TE. There offense is very nice but their "blackskirt" defense is very average.

To even associate this defense with what "blackshirts" used to mean is an insult to those that gave NU's defense the reputation it has.

I thought Pelini was a great hire at first, but I've been very surprised he hasn't been able to build a decent defense down there. I know the whole recruiting thing, but from the NU games I've watched I'm surprised at how out of position some of their players are.

Anywho, should be a good game on Saturday, I'm excited.

Don't they give standing ovations to the team every weekend?

That's why I thought such a big deal was made during Callahan's last year when the fans started to leave early.
