Coach opens with statement:
"Obviously my heart goes out to Tim Frazier. Since my short time here he's done everything I've asked him to do and then some. He's resilient. He will perserve. He will rebound from this injury. He will come back bigger, better and stronger, which is scary. We've all been through our adversities. I've spent the last few hours going through my adversities and challenges with him. ... We're all gonna be there for him. That's what we do as a team. But what I would also tell you now is somebody's got to step up. It's a great opportunity for some of our freshmen and guys who want to step up. We always talk about purpose. Maybe Tim Frazier is that purpose you need. To play harder."
On redshirt and coming back next season:
"I'm very hopeful that will all get cleared up. (they have to file paperwork).
Recovery can be anywhere from "6-12 months. I'm hopeful for six months. Have him back over the summer."

"I'm sure people are happy. They may see a win on the schedule. They'll be wrong."
On changing the playbook with Frazier out:
"I think D.J.'s very capable of plyaing the point and distributing. Jermaine Marshall and Ross Travis have to play better. I like the offense we have. It gives you a mix of guards and inside play.
"Sometimes when you put new things in it throws people off. And we don't have enough time. We play Friday. Maybe if we had a week."
On scholarship availability:
"We'll cross that bridge when it comes."
"We had a great practice today. We'll need another one. We got a great team coming in here. We've got to defend and rebound. Play Penn State basketball."
"They need to step up. Every guy needs to step up. There's a great opportunity. They're all going to be asked to do more. Everybody's got to do their job. ... The sky's not falling. The season's not over. We're going to be OK. We're going to go out there and compete for 40 minutes. The mentality needs to change. Let's go."
"He's still going to be the captain, still going to be the leader. Now those guys -- D.J., Jermaine, Nick -- have to step up."
"I already told him, he's sitting up front, will be like an assistant. This is the first time he's ever been hurt, so it's going to be a great challenge for him. Hopefully by doing that, he doesn't think about his injury as much."
On loss of Frazier on impact of defense:
"You're gonna miss his speed and quickness and steals. ... We gotta play the same way. We gotta get stops. You gotta rebound the basketball."
"I'm throwing out the second half (vs. Akron). I feel like we were a little deflated from the news at halftime. That's my job to motivate. I'm going to take the blame for that second half."
On whether he allowed himself to get angry about Frazier's injury:
"I'm the leader of this program. They're going to watch me, follow me. I'm not a loser. I'm not going to sulk. I'm not going to make excuses. Don't feel sorry for us. We're going to grind, and we're going to play Penn State basketball."
On Newbill's role increasing:
"He needs to play the same way he's been playing. He needs to do a little bit more. He needs to set up the table, know when to go and when not to go. He's ready for this challenge."
On Bucknell's Muscala:
"He's a terrific player and he's well-coached. We have to play hard. We have to get deflections. ... Muscala's going to get his points. We have to limit his good looks, limit his touches. If he's gonna shoot a 15-footer, it's gotta be with a hand in his face."
