  • I know this is from twitter but thought this deserved its own thread. Coach Chambers tweeted that he has flown 42,699 miles since being hired. That doesn't include driving miles. That is insane

  • I think he is gonna make us competitive. His work ethics and passion for the game are evident.

...and if you're not down with that, then I got 2 words for ya.."suck it!!"

IMHO, assuming he stays long enough, I think he makes us more than just competitive. pray

Assuming he gets PSU to be a competitive program, can PSU keep him or will PSU let him be bought away?

Villanova is the opportunity to worry about. Jay Wright has struggled recently (really since PC left his staff) and if that job opens up you know'll they will go after Pat. I was talking to a Nova fan at the bar the other night and they all love Pat and want him back badly.

If he can get us to the promised land I hope PSU opens the checkbook to keep him. PSU has been a cellar dweller for so long it has been painful. I would love to see PSU with a dominant basketball program with football, wrestling, etc as the class of the big ten.

I'll worry about that if and when the time comes. We are at least a few years away from thinking about that scenario IMO.

I think in general you are right that it will be a few years, though another bad year for Nova could accelerate the process.

It would take A LOT more than another bad yr to force Jay Wright off campus. They're not pushing him out the door anytime soon, and Jay's wife doesn't want to uproot the kids. It's more likely that Temple would give PC a serious look when Dunph retires.

You very well could be right but I know there is a good amount of unrest in the fanbase. And IF they made a change I bet PC gets a call. But like you said, that's all conjecture at this point. What we do know is that he is doing everything in his power to change the perception of PSU bball and so far its working.

I'm sure he would get a call, but I'd be stunned if Jay were pushed out the door that easily. I also think Pat would hesitate to take the job under those circumstances. He owes a lot to Jay.

  • i think he stays, you coach in the big ten, get all the resources, and without any type of winning success is pulling in some real talent...if he stays at penn state and keeps this momentum up...he will become a legend here

  • Hope he stays.. pray PSU really needed an enthusiastic and passionate coach like him for a while, and now that we got one, the powers that be should absolutely open the check book to him if any other school comes calling. Does he need to be successful here for other big time programs to come calling? I dont know.. But i hope he stays here and becomes successful. He has bought a new life to ur BBall program and could become huge if he makes us relevant in this field again.

How many miles did Joe and Eddie D fly in the last 5 years for recruits?

    Just an honest question.

Is this typical of what a division one coach? Because I can't remember the aforementioned coaches doing this and people seeming to be OK with it. So I'm trying to figure out if this is some go-getter or if these are the realistic expectations of D1 coaches.

    FireJayPa

  • The best player on the team is from Tx iirc so Ed must have done some traveling.

    perfect

It's typical. Ed and his staff recruited three guys from Europe so it's not like they didn't travel looking for players (they also got guys from Florida (3), Texas (2), Missouri, and Wyoming - and we're not even talking about guys that they recruited but didn't land).

  • Chambers was giving a jet to fly around in. He gets his traveled covered. Ed had to pay his way. No one gave penn state basketball coaches much help to succeed

Was that because no one cared (administration) or no one forced the issue (Eddie happy to have a job with no real expectations)?

"Ed had to pay his way"?

Where in heaven's name did you come up with that one. DeChellis may not have had the university jet at his disposal (and I'm not sure that Chambers does either) but he sure as hell didn't have to pay his own way.

One of the more ludicrous things I've ever seen on a PSU website.
