Paging Kerry Collins.......

  • ......please come to SC as a "consultant" to help fix Rob Bolden's mechanics and screw his head on straight, we need a QB in a bad way. Thank you, that is all.

    Yeah no thanks.

  • Mechanics aren't Bolden's issue. Unless someone teaches him how to actually PLAY and not just try to mechanically execute, he's not going to do anything.

Is he still throwing them back? I thought he was clean now?

  • I believe he is clean now, just like joking around about it

I said in another thread that Collins wouldn't make a good college coach. He just doesn't relate to people well. The guy has always had his own agenda and did his own thing. I don't see his personality doing much for recruiting. Besides, isn't he trying to start a career as a country music artist or something?

All that said, the guy obviously still loves Penn State. He offered up a million dollars to endow the quarterback scholarship. If he wanted to drop in on meetings with the quarterbacks and offense any time he was in town to offer some advice and pointers, I would love to see that happen.

FTR - that would be against NCAA rules. Teams can't hire consultants to come in and work with players because it would violate the NCAA rules that limit the number of coaches.

  • Dunno if he's the best fit.

I mean he threw around racial slurs like no ones business in the NFL.
He was a drunkard that broke his hand in a bar fight, wait "playing volleyball"
He was never a "people person"

Let him spend retirement on his huge ranch and spend time with his wife and daughter.

Thank you resident know it all. Where did I say PSU should hire him?

his touch passes are terrible.. he can't throw a screen pass, needs more touch on his deep balls, and consistantly throws into d-lineman's arms.. also, his accuracy is poor as well..

the kid lacks confidence, that could fix a lot of his problems, but he has a ways to go to become a good qb, mentally and physically..

It's no coincidence, IMO, that Bolden went down hill once Jay started to sink his teeth into him. Bolden all of a sudden had trouble down field weeks after we heard on here that the coaches were working with him on that. Coincidence??

That's true, you didn't. It was very presumptuous of me. I suppose it's quite possible that Bolden could hit the lottery and hire him or that Collins could elect to be a voluntary "consultant" out of the kindness of his heart. no

I feel bad for Bolden, because Jay's coaching and Joe's favoring of McGloin absolutely tanked his career.

He had a beautiful throwing motion when he first came to college, quick too. Now it's like a slow train-wreck.

He's actually a nice guy, believe it or not, he just got screwed by the last staff. I hope he figures it out and gets his confidence back, because we need a QB badly. I don't think I've ever said this about a Junior who's had starting experience, but he needs to redshirt if he doesn't win the job. He needs to mentally reset and restart.
