This statement can be taken many different ways.
Who did Curley mean when he said “We”? Substitute “Joe and I” where “we” is and it sounds like Joe wanted he to go to everyone and Curley was uncomfortable with that. Now substitute “you and I” where “we” is and it sounds like Curley changed he mind after talking with Joe
Let’s assume the latter is correct. We don’t know what was discussed between him and Joe. Maybe Curley asked Joe to tell him again what McQueary told him and afterwards Curley concluded there wasn’t enough evidence. Maybe Joe told Curley, “Hey I don’t understand all of this and want to stay out of it. You guys handle it”. There are so many different things that could have been discussed between Joe and Curley. However the media is only painting one picture with a very broad brush.
