PSU gear no longer available on NCAA website...

  • A few people have already been told it was intentional. The "glitch" is because they didn't expect the amount of backlash

  • Confirmed it myself as well. The poor rep sounded like she's fielded a few angry calls this morning. It's too bad Al Davis isn't with us anymore. I would lead a crusade to have him become our next President since we clearly are the outlaw brand in the NCAA's thinking.

  • The NCAA can go Eff themselves. The entire organization from Emmert on down. The audacity of them to pass moral judgment on an entire University for the actions of one monster and a perceived moral faults of 4 others is beyond reprehensible.

Who the hell are they to judge us? Who are they to tell US we have a football culture problem?

I'd like to know how many employees of the NCAA have had an affair, cheated on their taxes, stayed silent when they know others did something wrong? Eff them. They have no moral standing to judge the alumni, students, players, coaches or fans of Penn State.

I will never, ever forgive our BOT, Corbett, Louis Freeh, or the NCAA for the damage they've done to our University just to save their own asses. Corbett knew about JS for years! TSM knew about JS for years! Some members of the BOT knew about JS for YEARS! And none of them are held accountable b/c they blamed football. It sickens me the weakness our supposed "leaders" show in the face of adversity.

Cowards, every single one of them. None of them lifted a finger to stop JS when they could have. They can blame football all they want, but they must live with the guilt and shame of knowing what JS was doing and not doing a GD thing to stop him. I hope every single one of these weak minded cowards answers to a much greater authority than the NCAA when their time comes.

  • I just called and was told it was a "glitch" and they are working to fix the problem.

  • Why do I get the feeling that this "glitch" is going to take roughly 5 years to fix?

  • I think that the NCAA might have underestimated the backlash here and will pull back, at least when questioned. This was a pretty poor move from a variety of factors - no one was calling for the removal of gear and nothing in the sanctions, harsh as they are, actually makes PSU persona non grata to the NCAA. This is bullshit grandstanding, pure and simple, and is going to look hilariously childish to much of the American public that actually agreed with the sanctions.

I called and spoke with a very courteous rep, who confirmed what you all have claimed. All PSU merchandise pulled from NCAA website with no explanation. I pried this # from her for more information and to "elaborate and elucidate" upon my thoughts. 317-917-6222.

    Flood it, but be courteous.

Saw this from Altoona Mirror ...

A "glitch" that only removes PSU from the site...does Giger really believe the trash he writes?

I really don't think this is that big of a deal but I do find the "it's a glitch" response to this issue pretty funny. Amazing that this "glitch" just so happens to only remove Penn State from the website and yet at the same time leaves every other school untouched. What a remarkable coincidence.

    Interestingly enough:

The football fanatics site is this:
    http://www.footballfanatics.com
    and lists PENN STATE: http://www.footballfanatics.com/COLLEGE_Penn_State_Nittany_Lions

I BELIEVE THAT THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE SHOPNCAA site which keeps referring to the Football Fanatics site (but I don't believe that they are affilitated) -- it may be that this site is a SPOOF site. NOTE: I ran a who is domain check and this site IS registered to the NCAA. http://www.shopncaasports.com/

I called the contact for the site at the NCAA (A very nice young lady who was unaware of what was going on) and sent an email to them at khicks@ncaa.org to let them know that I contacted the BBB.

Here is the email that I sent:

I just filed a report with the Better Business Bureau. It reads like this:

    Description of Complaint:
    Two issues:
    1. I believe (although it looks legit) that this is a fraudulent website: http://www.shopncaasports.com.When you go to the contact page: http://www.shopncaasports.com/helpdesk/Contact or the Customer Service page: http://www.shopncaasports.com/helpdesk/Home - all of the information points you to another company: http://www.footballfanatics.com/ I called the Football Fanatics phone number and they are in NO WAY affiliated with the NCAA.com website. Which leads me to believe that the NCAA.com website is a SPOOF.

    2. This all started when I was told that the NCAA website sold EVERY TEAM’S apparel and gear, and this was not the case. Penn State gear was totally missing. False advertising.

    Desired Outcome:
    Description:
I would like to see the SPOOF websites SHUT DOWN, as they are dangerous and can steal innocent customer's vital financial information.

  • There is no doubt in my mind that the NCAA has an unpleasant date with karma upcoming. They have vastly underestimated the PSU program and fanbase.

The PSU administration may be inept, but we are the opposite.

At 10:30 a.m. it was an "intentional decision" to not sell PSU apparel on ShopNCAASports.com. At 11:30 a.m., it was a "technical glitch".

    The NCAA is too funny.

  • I contacted Dave Joyner about 8am this morning about this. He responded quickly and said he was looking into it. Whatever you may think about him, I am sure that he contacted the NCAA.

  • similar to the "technical glitch" that upvoted every team except PSU slowly and consistently over a 5 hour stretch in the school colors ESPN contest. PSU was up by a ton and suddenly every school was getting multiple votes per minute leaving PSU in the dust. They had to shut it down and luckily still awarded the scholarship money to PSU in that one.

  • I emailed an NCAA spokeswoman asking for comment this morning. She referred me to a spokesman for Fanatics, which operates the site. I sent him the same question -- why isn't Penn State merchandise available? -- after the O'Brien conference, and received this response, as well as confirmation that it had since become available again:

"While converting to a new and improved operating system that all our e-commerce stores run on, we discovered a technical glitch that mistakenly prevented Penn State product from appearing on the NCAA Shop. We quickly realized the issue and restored all Penn State merchandise back on the NCAA webstore. Fanatics Retail Group apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused."

Take it for what it's worth.

not true - at 10;00 when i called, they had a script they were reading from indicating they would not be having PSU merchandise on the website during the sanctioned period"

I think they got a backlash and then changed and said it was a "glitch"
