PSU fans, You won... that was a TD (Husker fan)

  • Robo, you are most respectful Buckeye fan I know and I respect what you have said about this is a great conference for PSU based on geography and history. It does make sense, but that same history makes one pause, OSU and UM have dominated this conference I would agree big ten officiating sucks, there seems to be no responsibility for bad officiating nor seemingly biased calls by some officials. The Big is not interested in transparency in what they do with regard to officiating. Right now PSU is a black mark in their minds, they almost tossed us out. Thankfully some members stood up to the mob and saved our skin. I do not think leaving the conference would help, I like the match ups with big for all sports.

However, I am frustrated with the perception of poor officiating at PSU games, I do not watch many other games due to my family commitments and time difference. I also will take exception to the comment this call was the only one that cost us a game, the phantom holding call in the OSU game changed the momentum, it certainly changed the game. In both games PSU left points on the field, but games come down to a few moments when momentum shifts and how one reacts to it determines whether one wins or loses. Vs UN, the two quick TD's shifted momentum to UN, PSU came back and scored a FG and gave up a TD, they responded with a clear TD, the momentum shifted again and it would not come back due to time left in the game. Officiating can change and at times can result in a loss. IMO it did last night and helped OSU. Am unsure there is a conspiracy or what but is sucks for these kids.

I am sure you can imagine what is being said...

I am sure there are referrences to 82 in there somewhere.

In 1982 they didn't have the luxury of replays. Judging by last night it probably wouldn't have mattered anyways.

  • Maybe PSU fan is being a little one sided here. You didn't stop Nebraska all second half so even if you would have scored you wouldn't have won. If you want to see a bad call here you go. This cost Nebraska a National Championship.

Well if they would have called one of the 7 or so holding penalties that Nebraska committed it may have been a different story, tough to stop a good running team that is also allowed to hold.

  • Just stating that bad calls happen all the time. Nebraska has seen their fair share of them. The ball could have been coming out on the goal line. The play above the guy was way out of bounds. Karma has a way of showing it's face eventually.

  • Shane..... your defense was offsides on that play..... also UNL recovered a forward pass and ran it in for a score if the refs get that call right you would have lost 7 points from the scoop and score... so I can keep proving you are an idiot or you can go farm my corn servant.

You don't have to care about my opinion. Enjoy the next 10 years without making a bowl. Should be a good time!

Enjoy getting stomped in a bowl with your inflated record.

In which case, can't wait for PSU to get a Nebraska TD called back with a few minutes remaining in the 4th, and see all the NU fans cry over "what could've been."

Now imagine they reviewed it and the call stands. You got a free NC in 1994 anyway. Get over it already.

Karma? You bitching about a call in the 80s? You got your revenge when the national pollsters felt sorry for Tom Osborne's failures of winning a national title in 1994. Bad calls happen. Bad calls that totally change the complexion of a game don't happen all the time. Nebraska has seem their fair share of them, but yet you benefitted from two incredibly bad calls back to back weekends?

Last time I checked, this is a PSU board and there were quite a few fishy calls against PSU yesterday. We have a right to bitch. If anything was one sided, it was the officiating. If you think otherwise, you don't know jack shit about football.

  • I have absolutely no problem and actually agree 1000% (Yes, I know 1,000) that PSU got screwed, and pretty hard. The one thing I can't agree with is automatically giving you the win because of it. Who knows what happens? I just can't see giving you the win with that much time left on the clock. It changes the game, but you cannot rationally say, It becomes a W.

I think people realize that Nebraska would have had opportunities to go ahead if the gutless replay official would have done the right thing. I have also seen Nebraska fans on various sites, say fine PSU, you have your TD. Final score Nebraska 32, PSU 30. It doesn't work that way either. TD for PSU, you don't get the safety and don't get the FG because PSU isn't in a go for it mode at that juncture.

All that one can logically say is that the game becomes a lot more interesting down the stretch.

I can definitely agree with this statement. There's not telling what may have happened had the touchdown been called, but the call drastically altered the complexion of the game. It's also interesting to point out that PSU was able to hold Nebraska to a three and out on that first drive following the call (although i'm sure Nebraska was using much more conservative play calling than if they were trailing). Truth is, we'll never know what the outcome might have been, but we shouldn't have to guess it in the first place. We should have watched it play out last night, but the call was blown in the worst of ways.

That was a TD, I agree with you all that it was a horrible call and I can't believe that call wasn't overturned.

Not much else I can say to you all beyond that.

I am very VERY impressed with your team and the fight in each and every player. You should be very proud of this team, and OB is a GREAT coach (coach of the year imo) and PSU is in great hands for the future.

Thanks, Josh...very classy post. However, we had other opportunities to win the game and didn't take advantage. Best of luck the rest of the year!
