PSU fans, You won... that was a TD (Husker fan)

I have no issues with the Nebraska folks they seem like incredible hosts but i have outrage over the refs. Really, a ref bumping into #59 on a punt return a 15 yr penalty? Holding vs OSU game on a punt return when the osu kid fell down? Even Michigan fans are over here saying we get hosed.

** WARNING**** Stay away from the Michigan fans!!!!

    They smell funny.....

I am sure you can imagine what is being said...

I am sure there are referrences to 82 in there somewhere.

The 82 thing holds no water here and quite frankly shouldn't even be brought up. I think you see where I'm going with this.

That's college football for you. All fanbases, including ours, holds onto these things from before a lot of us were born and continue to use them to justify things now. It makes no sense.

Based on how the game was going, I still think NU has more than a 50% chance of winning if that call is overturned. That is something we probably won't here much about on this board tonight!

I dont think you really watched much of the game judging solely from this post.

Going up 4 late is big for momentum
PSU had already been stiff in the endzone vs. that offense
Key points being we would be up 4 late with a strong Redzone Defensive TD percentage on the day.

Not sure how that equates to a greater than 50% chance of winning. Seems a poorly thought out statement to make to me

  • Sure it was a tough call, and I thought overall the crew we had for the game was borderline. Shit happens and it seems like it's happened more often this year. The no TD call was tough, but even if PSU gets the TD, we still have to stop Nebraska, so who knows what happens.

As for the worst zebra crew in the conference, it was the crew officiating the UM/NW game today. That crew has killed PSU this year with ridiculous calls.

Hope the Zebras are evaluated every game and based on evaluations some sort of suspension or money taken from the would be nice.

B1G officials as a whole are atrocious.

I'm not sure what it is about this conference, but the B1G officiating crews are pathetic. Absolutely terrible.

Perhaps, but for the love of God, all we ask is a fair shot at it. Just a fair shot. That's all we ask. It's fu*king frustrating to be in the WWE conference of college football.

    Not starting trouble.....

You guys have had some bad calls against you this year..This one was the only one I believe cost you a game this year.....the reply was to the notion that the BIG is in a conspiracy against PSU or in favor of tOSU or Michigan....We've all had bad calls against us as well, our officials aren't great and their only consistency is they are consitently making bad calls....

I like PSU in the BIG, which has the most history of any conference in CFB...PSU is a natural fit, both by style of ball, geography and history....you honestly don't fit with any other conference and I truly don't think there is any conspiracy against you, the same as I told tOSU fans there was no conspiracy against us when NCAA came snooping around....

You really are a f*cking homer moron if you think that was the only one that cost us a game this year. You know damn well our game against you guys is a COMPLETELY different game, with us soundly in the driver seat, with a fairly called ball game. We got more hosed against you guys than we did against Nebraska, and that's saying something. So, GTFO of here you idiot.

    BoulderFish

  • Here's a legit conspiracy:

The Big Ten is worried about it's image right now. Scandal has rocked it, it has terrible football from an entertainment standpoint, stadiums aren't as filled (due to the economy and the amazingness of HD); basically it has an image problem. All of the CFB world laughs at the Big Ten.

It wants the teams with the best records to win. MSU got jobbed too. It wants the teams who are on the fast track to the Big Ten championship to look the best. It doesn't matter that it was PSU (although, being PSU right now doesn't help...). It should be painfully obvious, as Nebraska got calls in back to back games.

I really hope PSU vs Wiscy is a close game. I want to see how the officiating is in that game.

They're OSU. OSU and Michigan are just as important as those on the fast track to the B1G "championship" (maybe more so). If they can be one and the same, even better (or worse, depending on your perspective).

This is not news to you, is it?

If you really believe that a holding call on Mauti at the 2 yard line changed the outcome of that game then I can't help you or your "goggles"...

Yes, it was a holding...but honestly, do you think your last two TD drives would have been played in a soft zone, 3 man rush if the game was still in doubt? tOSU stuffed your offense the entire night, and if needed, would have played the same aggressive blitzing style they had the previous 3 quarters...

Not to mention, even if they called the holding against Mauti, are you convinced that tOSU wouldn't have still scored a TD on that drive? Your D was worn down, the no huddle caused havoc and I'm not so sure that tOSU wouldn't have scored just as easily from the 11 yard line...

But the difference in speed, depth and talent was the difference in that game, not the holding call on Mauti....sorry

So, back to my original comment, YES, the bad call today is the first one I've seen this year that may have actually cost you the game....

And I'm sorry, I never felt as though you were "soundly in the drivers seat" in that game...

I agree! The pressure would have been on Nebraska to score a touchdown with us having the momentum. That touchdown would of made a huge difference.

If you really believe that the holding on Mauti was it, then I can't help you or your "goggles."

That hold was about 10%-20% of it.

Penn State stuffed YOUR offense completely until the officials started giving them the ball right back, and they eventually got worn down.

If the officials would have continually given us the calls, your defense would have gotten worn down too, and it's an easy win for us too. In a fairly called game, we're in MUCH better shape, and it's at least a much different game.

I know you can't see that, and you don't want to believe it, but it is what it is.

    Wow.....

I guess you should talk to some of your fellow posters, or maybe some on your sideline that know you were outmatched in that game...."Better shape"???? Really?

You played our offense very well, for ONE quarter...which by the way, if you have watched any tOSU games this year, our 1st quarter offense has been bad...mainly because they don't let Braxton run as they try to get others involved first...it doesn't work, Urban gets on headset and says "Braxton Time" and Herman then turns him loose....That is direct quote from Urban as to why our offense has been outscored in first Qtr this year...

But you keep believing that the only reason you EVER lose a game is because of officials, that's ok...just doesn't make for a very happy life that way....

You are correct Hamilton.....All week we heard our gameplan was going to be up tempo and wear you down, I don't know why that gameplan didn't start until the 3rd quarter, but when it was implemented the game was decided...

I've not been a PSU basher, but when Boulderfish jumped in with the game was lost only because of the officials it just made me defend the "reality" of that particular game....

I do believe your game today may very well have been a different outcome if that obvious TD is allowed...

Urbs wouldn't have gone for it on fourth and eight or goal from the 12 after that hold. You take four points off the board and add in that ficticious hold on the punt, which was laughable, you have a very interesting game.

No, PSU wasn't in the driver's seat at any moment. But to say PSU wasn't the victim of some attrocious calls a few weeks ago that could have impacted the game is a bit much.

The difference in the game was game plan and nothing else. If BOB puts together a good game plan, as opposed to the one he devised (he admitted his plan sucked afterwards), I think the outcome could have been different. It's not like your defense is good. Sorry.

I respect you as one of the best OSU posters over here. 99.9% of them don't know their asses from their elbows. However your account is a bit much.

Agreed...that crew in the NW/Mich game made some awful calls again today. The worst thing about the missed TD call in the Penn St/ Neb game was that they reviewed it and still didn't get the call right....if they are gonna have instant replay at least get the damn call right
