    I actually thought this was extremely well written and thought out. I like that they took accountability and also noted what they have changed, what they will change, and how PSU can improve in the future but still has a great past outside this saddening set of events.

  • they need to get some people in there who know how to deal with the media.. it was obvious the univ. reps didn't know how to handle the situation.. they had all the time in teh world to prepare for this one..

    Oh yeah, that's a good point. Somehow I missed that obvious element. But in terms of what we would expect, this was probably a little better than we predicted.

    In addition to your point about BOT members, the easiest first move would be to fire Spanier. If that doesn't happen in the next 3 hours I'd be very confused. Isn't he still a "tenured faculty member." You guys would know what that means better than me, but my understanding is that he is still employed by the university and even receiving money.

  • All of them need to step down. I don't know, by heart and off hand, how many can without the inter-twinings of government, but all of them that were present during the period need to go. JMO

  • I want a new athletic director and president who have zero connection to PSU. Have to get that. How can you talk about changing the culture without that?

    By handle the situation, do you mean try to spin the defense of men whose actions led to the molestion of boys?

    There is no excuse here. The fact that anyone's immediate reaction to this is not horror and outrage astounds the rest of the nation. You don't need better media representatives--you should call for the head of everyone involved. The fact that there are Penn State supporters out there who are not outraged at the actions taken by the leaders of you institution ( not just athletic dept, but the entire institution) baffles and angers those on the outside.

    The absolute best reaction for Penn State would have been to throw those indicted in the report to the wolves. Anything else looks like you're defending their actions.

    The true test of a man's intelligence is how much he agrees with you.
