PSU -2.5 vs OSU

  • I'm very disappointed here. I was all set to drop the hammer on the money line as the underdog. I'm hoping the mighty OSU name and lofty rankiing causes a shift.

edit - Wow. In the time I was typing this PSU has gone to -2.5 frustrated

  • Forgive me for not understanding betting lines. Who is favored by 2.5 points?

Penn State is favored. They need to win by 3 to cover the -2.5 spread

edit, OSU could lose 22-20 and win the bet because they get +2.5 points

  • We're now 6-1 against the spread this year right? Honestly surprised that we are favored based on the way Vegas has been approaching or games. Don't know if I'm happy about this...

  • We opened +3 and the line moved to -2.5 in like an hour. Thats a pretty huge swing in a short period of time. Lots of money on PSU.

    JTNITTANY

  • Who opened it at +3? SBR says -1.

The Wynn's sportsbook opened at PSU +3 and now its moved to -2. Pretty much right around that most of the places I've looked.

Vegas insider had OSU -3 to open, link is in the OSU civil thread, I linked srb, not sure who is right but no doubt money went heavy on PSU.

  • I saw one open at pick. Personally i no longer bet psu or osu games no matter the opposition. Despite thinking i am somewhat an expert on psu, i bet w my heart too much. I've been burned. And i bet against osu too much because .... they are osu. Lol

  • I am an OSU fan, visiting over from Bucknuts. First time I've dropped by your board. I hate to say this, but I completely agree PSU should be favored. Frankly, without Brax, it should be by about 7.

I, for one, have been very surprised by PSU; had completely written them off. I watched the Iowa game and was very impressed. OSU is just not that good this year. Plus, we have had the worst injury year that I can remember. Our starting tailback, our best WR just went down, 3 of our linebackers (our fullback is now starting at linebacker, yes, I'm serious) and several others in the secondary.

Without Brax, I'm affraid we aren't just going to just beat, but beat quite thoroughly. We might be the worst 8-0 team in history. I'm not a big fan of PSU, mostly because I think you guys are big whiners, but this is my honest assessment. With Brax, I still think we still lose, without him, we'll need some big turn overs or losts of stuff on special teams to go our way.

Take it for what its worth.

You got better when Hall got hurt IMO. Hyde is better.

Your injury problem is unfortunate. This is football though. Everyone has them. When PSU plays OSU Saturday evening, it will be playing with at least 13 less scholarshipped kids, probably more. I'm not too sure you are going to get too much sympathy with the injury problems. I hope Miller plays ... really do. Because I know what happens if/when PSU beats you without Miller.

By the way, sounds like you are whining already and making excuses with the injury problems.

No way are we a top 10 team. We are good at times but not 10th ranked team in the country good. Maybe 15-20 range?

I think this will be our toughest game so far this year. You guys are beginning to operate like a well oiled machine while we still have serious problems on defense and offense.

The homer in me says we will win but I'm very nervous.

The dude above ya said the Wynn opened it OSU -3 and then it must've been PSU -1 by the time the online books picked it up so they were both probably right.

Making blanket statements about any fan base in a sport at any level is beyond retarded.

I thought your QB was fine.

Money movement is starting to go towards OSU. 5dimes had psu -2.5 at -120 OSU +100, now PSU -115 OSU -105. It should be interesting where this line ends up with 2 huge fan bases moving the market.

It's more then the fan base, I like ___ in this one..lol...I don't put $ down until Thursday at the earliest.

  • You know...usually I cringe at signs like this. Because PSU never seemed to live up to the expectations. If we're being talked about as a "real" contender...then we always trip up (same thing for the Bills...)

But now...I'm simply confident in O'Brien. I feel like this stuff doesn't matter anymore, and that he's simply going to put a good product on the field, even if we don't cover or whatever.

The advantage OSU has is UM knows SEC teams, and to me PSU looks like an SEC team this yr, yea I said that..

Not whining, just stating facts, half of our starters are currently out with injuries. And we didn't play Hall as a true t-back, more of an h-back. Different role from Hyde, and sorely missed, because we have very few playmakers on offense (or defense for the matter).

True that you have had it rough with the transfers, which is one reason I had written off PSU but have been very surprised at how good of football team they are. It's why I said that even though I love my buckeyes, my objective assessment is that PSU is a better football team and will win.

But your smart ass remark is just another reason why I have come to dislike PSU so much. I hope you enjoy this year, I really do. The only reason you are a decent football team is because of your seniors. They'll be gone after this year, with crap talent behind them, and for the foreseeable future. It'll be downhill from here...

What smart ass remark? You bring up the reason you hate PSU is because the fan base whines, but yet, you are already whining yourself because you are making excuses for the injuries. Typical response by a numbnut. It's alright to say PSU fans whine, but when you are accused of doing the same thing, you call them smart ass? Half of your starters are out due to injuries? NAME THEM PLEASE.

Unless you are living under a rock, or haven't watched PSU play a single down this year like most of your fan base, you would know we have more than crap talent remaining in the kitty.

It's simply amazing. Two weeks ago, your fan base was running its mouth saying this was in the bag and that came from people who admitted they never saw a PSU game. No chance this offense, which is equal to Sparty will be able to move against Simon, Roby, Howard, Shazier, Hankins, Nate Williams ... this all came after the Sabino injury. Now, after probably seeing last night's score in Iowa City, the excuses of half the starting lineup is injured and out come out. I've seen people say last night's PSU performance wasn't impressive. Then again, those people forget, that team we beat in Iowa City badly rolled into East Lansing the week before and beat Sparty - the same Michigan State team that you pump your chest for beating. Not saying Team A beat Team B; Team C pounds Team A on the road, so that means Team C pounds Team B by any means, but ...

You seem to be in the minority in thinking PSU should win, but food for thought. I can't sympathize with your injured players.

Half our starters are currently playing for other schools. And the reason we are good is because of the seniors? I'm sorry, is Allen Robinson a senior? How about Kyle Carter? Or Bill Belton, Donovan Smith, Adrian Amos, etc? Offensively our biggest loss will be Matt McGloin and we have a 5 star QB coming in to take that spot over. Also we have Bill O'Brien, you just have Urbz.
