So he went down by 1 point a game with a returning QB and that's an issue? It's over 30 points a game! Where do I sign! Duke shouldn't even have a football program so I give no credence to those stats.

The second year was with a new crop of players (QB,RB) so that is comparing apples to oranges.

I'm willing to bet that MM will outperform his last year stats based on the sole fact that he is getting the reps and actually has someone there to coach him up. If he doesn't I'll pay for 3 months subscription for you. Willing to offer the same back?

Why does Duke not count? I believe their offense was the worst it was in the modern era. Meaning as bad as Duke has been it was never that bad before or after.

I wish I could just eliminate things at work that I did that weren't good and say they don't count.

The talent at Duke was and is pathetic. They couldn't even compete with our 2nd and 3rd string guys. My point was that those 2 years with poor talent should not be an indicator of his ability.

As far as the work comment, you have to take it in context. Did you have the resources necessary to be successful at the task at hand? We're you there long enough to bring in the right pieces around you to be successful? My point isn't that it shouldn't count, it's just that I do not think a lot can be concluded from it.

My point is the teams before him and after him had poor talent as well. So why did he fare worse? I'm comparing him to other coaches at Duke who also had poor talent but fared better.

Now, he very well may have improved since then. We don't know. But it's not unfair to look at how he performed in college and be a little worried.

It's also his first time as a HC. He's also adding play calling on top of that. We have no idea how he will handle this. It's tough enough being a first time HC let alone adding play calling duties to your workload. he has a lot on his plate and nobody knows what to expect or how he will handle it.

  • Over, definitely.

    Domo

  • Are we too include TD's to the other team?

If so...way over. I just see a few of those on the short passes where the DB steps in to the weak throw.

  • INT Over/Under...

    Lets set it at 13.

I say Over, with the qualifier he's allowed to start the entire season.

  • Thought I'd dig this up and revisit...

Some people need to start eating crow already.

Can we go with O/U 19.5?

I still think over. It will get more difficult now in BIG play, but I love the system and MM is working within it.

If he starts every game this season, over by a couple.

Overall, I'll say under due to the fact Jones could take the job away.

    Good call.

Thoughts...who would've predicted Jones moving to TE? If anyone saw that coming, you're beyond genius.

Hahaha.. It is pretty funny to read through people's posts on this thread, all thinking they know what they're talking about.

This thread has so much irony.

  • I feel pretty good about my post. Only thing I was wrong on was well everything... I really thought Jones would be QB by now and that MM couldn't pick up the offense. I did say that if he doesn't throw ints. that he would be over easily.

    With that said:

I don't think we will really know until we play a strong D. Certainly the likes of Ohio, Navy, UVA, Illinois, and Temple aren't defensive juggernauts. I like his chances in the next couple of games to actually trhow 2-3 td's/game too. Then it might become a struggle in the last 3-4.

Yep. Ton of facepalms right there.

  • MM's numbers thus far:

COMP ATT YDS CMP% TD INT RAT
    101 170 1217 59.4 10 2 136.6

    O/U at 21?

    PSU17

  • 4.6 TD's for every INT - not to shabby . 24 TD's was beyond anyone's wildest dreams. No offense to Matt because I am very impressed with his success, but what will
this offense do with a more talented QB?

    For shits and giggles...

    Barkley 2.4 TD/INT
    Klein 2.33
    Manziel 3
    L. Jones 3

Charlie Weiss says hi. It's easy to design an offense around arguable the greatest QB in the history of the game of football. Maybe thats why every OC seems to have success in N.E. with Tom Brady. Let's wait and see what he does as a college HC and play caller.

    Any post season analysis?

Thank you for bringing this thread back up. I was trying to find the season prediction thread too and couldn't find it. Some of you people have been watching too much Mark May.

I hope O'Brien puts the before (2011) and after (2012) stats in front of Waters. We really need that guy to come aboard. QB is our only missing link from having an outstanding offense next year...assuming no one in the starting lineup jumps ship.
