  • With Michigan, OSU, and Penn State recruiting as well as we all have been, the Big Ten is shaping up to be a mighty strong conference over the next couple of years. Would love to see the Big Ten win some national championships and start stealing recruits from the SEC. BTW who is recruiting better right now UM or OSU? I would also say PSU but it seems their number of commits is at least 5-6 more than ours.

I think the better class right now goes to Michigan. I think OSU will eventually win out in the rankings, but both of them (and Penn State) will have top 10-12 classes, with ours definitely finishing third. However, the key thing to note is what the classes are accmoplishing for each school. They are filling needs, reorganizing rosters for a new scheme (OSU) and repleneshing a vast chasm of talent (PSU).

Michigan has the better class right now (and i think they end with the better class).

    I don't think we finish with a top 12 class...maybe top 15

  • Michigan will most likely have the top class but I think OSU will have the higher avg star rating.

If OSU can close with Bosa, Vonn Bell, Pocic, and a couple highly rated kids and Penn State do the same all 3 schools will without a doubt be in the top 15 potentially top 10.

You also have to keep in mind the camp circuit will bump some kids up or drop their ratings.

I can tell you Michigan will have to go National next year when it comes to recruiting. The upcoming class in Ohio is very weak and will not produce many highly regarded prospects like years past. If they rely on Ohio next year good luck with that. 2015 may bounce back but 2014 is suspect.

No homer but I agree with this. lol We have 17 commits and 15 of them are 4*. We have 5-7 spots left and they'll be filled with all 4 or 5*. I think Bama ends with the top class but I think we'll be top 3. I could see all 3 of us in the top 10.

We'll be fortunate because we're already looking at national prospects for 2014 and the state of Michigan should have an strong year. Is Kizer the #1 in the state for 2014?

  • I guess after getting AA's commitment yesterday, Urbz told Courtney Love there was no room at the inn. He quickly jumped on a spot at Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers keep the Youngstown (OH) Cardinal Mooney pipeline going with a commitment from four-star LB Courtney Love. He talks about his pledge here.

I don't care where we are in relation to UM and OSU, as long as we have a great class according to our needs and according to what/who the coaches wanted. The quality of a recruiting class does mean something, but when you're all up within a certain level, then coaching becomes the difference between the teams.

Kizer, Dante Booker, Jimmy Byrne will be the top players in the state. After that its a big drop off.

IIRC, you also thought the program was doomed when BOB was hired and then thought that no top-rated kid would come.

I know that we're probably the favorite for Kizer but what about the other two?

Edit-what are their positions, size, school, etc.

  • Nebraska leads for DE out of Cali Joe Mathis.

Iowa landed their 4th and 5th commits, a DT from Nebraska that plays 8- man football and an OL from Illinois (I think Illinois) Colin Goebel that is a pretty solid player with a decent offer list. The DT only had a South Dakota State offer.

Thanks, for 2014 at LB we're looking at Clifton Garrett and Nyles Morgan out of Illinois. We probably won't take many at LB or OL because of our 2012 & 2013 classes.

  • I think Urban is going after oos QBs before Keizer. He's already personally recruiting that kid from Kentucky and one from north or south carolina . I do agree that that Ohio class might be the worst we've seen in awhile.

Goebel is legit and the UI fans are balling that he left state, like every good prospect is doing. And should.

I think we are looking at Garrett as well... From what I have seen it looks like the three we are targeting are Raekwon McMillan, Dante Booker, and Garret but again, it's so early that those will change though I think Booker and McMillan have offers already
