Kevin Robbins to GTech. Really like his game overall. Not really an effect on PSU here though

Interesting. Good pick for Tech. As a TE or DE?

  • Strange that Poggi never really looked at PSU. His older brother played for Roof and BOB at Duke and he had lots of good things to say about them.

He still intends on visiting OSU Mich and Neb might be missing a school in there.

Quoted wrong one this is referring to Cravens.

Yeah. Absolutely insane class they are putting together. Don't they have all 5 stars?

3 5*s, 5 4*s. Avg. class rating of over 95 though. Absolutely disgusting. USC is going to emerge from these sanctions better than they went in.

  • Michigan got a commitment from a long snapper.
Seems a little surprising to use one of the last few scholarships on a LS this early in the process.

Maybe a Michigan fan could offer a little more insight... but strikes me as strange

From not far from where I used to live, few hours. Interesting. LS are underrated. If you get one with good size and agility along with the times needed, definitely worth a scholarship.

Honestly, we're all as confused as anyone else. Here's the situation:

When this kid steps on campus, we'll have one RS SR LS, and one preferred walk-on SO LS. Our current LS will have graduated in 2012, so there's an opening. Allegedly, this kid will be able to start from day 1 and should be a 4-year starter - that's how elite he's supposed to be. Still, it's very confusing.

My thoughts: we had 2 preferred walk-on LS for the 2012 class. MSU snagged one of them by offering a full schollie. I honestly think Hoke and Co. panicked a little bit and worried about the lack of LS depth for the 2013 season and beyond, hence the offer.

What really doesn't make sense is the timing. I can understand throwing this offer out on the eve of NSD 2013, but when we've still got legitimate interest from LaQuon Treadwell, Kendall Fuller, Leon McQuay, Alvin Bailey, Wyatt Teller, Joe Mathis, and a host of other high-quality players, why burn the scholarship now? Do we really think some other team would've snaked this kid away with a scholarship offer?

  • Pretty confused here too. We have a walk on from the '12 class and a junior RS one too. Don't know why we would use a scholly this early. But I trust in what Hoke and the staff are doing.

Can't blame you. One head scratcher out of 21 is a hell of a success rate. Hoke's made all the right moves so far in recruiting and on the field.

When you have had the class you guys have had you can afford this. I also think it is an important spot. How many close games get decided by a special teams play, field goal etc. No one cares until the snap sucks.

Our problem is that the snap could be great, but Will Hagerup will still drop it and look like an idiot doing so.

  • Note that this is NOT a commit, just was lazy in looking for a place to put this. But David Williams is visiting South Carolina this weekend.

EDITED: Originally said today, I read over the tweets too quickly. It actually said this week and Sean's article confirms Sunday.

Was just about to post it. Does anyone not think Clemson is the shadiest football program in the country? There is no reason they should land the top kids they inevitably do every year. And those pics recruits take with cash are pretty telling as well...

A kid ranked #1 in the country from Georgia with offers from every SEC school chooses to go to Clemson?

You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small. -Pacino

  • This could be the reason why:

"Clemson also has some connection to Grayson in that coach Dabo Swinney was a college teammate and road roommate with the prospects’ high school coach, Mickey Conn."

The kid didnt even have Clemson in his top list I dont think.

Edit: Un-VIPing this since that article was not VIP.

Swinney is a heck of a recruiter. Tons of energy. Clemson is also an excellent school with a great, young coaching staff.

If they can hold onto Dabo, and maybe just as importantly Chad Morris, they'll do quite well for themselves in the next few years.
