Other teams recruiting thread

  • I figured this thread might be useful to track what some other teams are doing in the B1G and regional teams and who they have verbal and what not. I'll start it off...OSU just got a TE commit from Cali, Marcus Baugh. Number 3 TE in the country. Nice pull for OSU and the B1G. I hope we can pull a player from Cali like that someday.

But, I thought that brother of a Buckeye from Naples, FLA ... the TE ... was a stone cold lock for OSU? Maybe not.

He has been a Michigan lean for months. Wondering when Levenberry is announcing for Michigan.

Cravens is going to be very hard to pull away from USC.

Lock by no means. tOSU is still taking 1 more TE. As far Levenberry seems like FSU is leading with a very important weekend for UM coming up.

Regarding Levenberry, that's what I've heard as well.

Him or Mcneil will be the second TE in our (OSU) class. Most assume it will be Heuerman since he is announcing shortly after coming up for our spring game. Heuerman also said he wants his brother with him when he announces.

Just wondering what other people think, is the major difference between us and programs like OSU and Michigan location? And by that I mean difficulty in getting to State College from far away? We have, IMO, just as big a name and history as those schools yet we don't get big name kids from the west coast to seriously consider us as much as those two schools. I haven't flown into State College in a long time, but I assume it's not cheap. And depending on where a kid lives, he (and his family) might have at least two layovers to get there. Or to save money, they might have to fly to Philly or Pittsburgh and then have to drive 3-4 hours to get there. Pretty daunting for some.

well...as of now, Urban Meyer is a much bigger name than Bill O'Brien and probably has much more cache across the country. Also in OSU's favor, they have been much much better than us of late and have been in the national spotlight. As for UM, Ann Arbor is basically a west coast town/feel in a midwest state.

12, great observation on Ann Arbor. Spot on. Plus, it's a helluva good university, academically.

Hare 'em, but gotta give 'em their props.

Joe had a bigger name than Meyer will EVER have. Yet elite kids from out west never seem to express interest in coming to play for Penn State. That's why Kenny Stills recruitment (or lack thereof) still bothers me. They had a kid who reportedly had a true interest in visiting and he was turned away.

When we win again, we will get there... It will take a few years though... In the mean time, we need to dominate our traditional recruiting areas...

  • 12, I think Ann Harbor is more similar to State college than a 'west coast town'... I've recently been to Ann Harbor and all up the california coast. In no way did AA remind me of San Diego, Anaheim, Santa Monica, Corona, or any other town that I visited.

Might have something to do with the weather.
