Combine like articles but that is not what is happening. They are combining all articles and those threads are mixed with other threads. I do want to see a new article with out wrestling through the top thread every time. That is why giving new info a life of their own for 24 hours before combining makes sense.

This concept of locking and adding to one existing thread new articles and information about freeh, sanctions, bot is crazy. Allow new items to be discussed and then combine them. There is no way to follow all the information and topics when you combine them in one thread. Give it 24 hours or until conversation has taken place.

I can understand the frustration, guys. The pinned thread was an experiment (as Jeff said, "we'll see how it goes"), and if people don't like it, we'll see if there's a better way to maintain the flow of the board.
Hopefully you will also understand the problem that initiated that thread - people were starting tons of threads, most of which were already being discussed elsewhere and didn't deserve a new thread. Since it was all the same topic and the same comments for the most part, it was prudent to try and send everyone to a unified thread.

I know I will not. How do you have one thread covering. Sanctions, freeh report and bot. It is insane. I agree lock duplicate articles but to now allow info to be posted and discussed especially brand new articles is just crazy.

I like the pinned post. Granted I don't go there much but it got old with people posting ever article and gripe about the BOT, scandal, emmert, erickson ect. I've gotten to the point of out of sight out of mind. If i want to read about it I know where to find it. It's spring, it's football time. I started coming here for football news and on field discussions and I desperately want to get back to that.

On the front page right now we have more then 7 threads about non football, psu related crap. But for some reason we are afraid to have more then one thread about one of the biggest situations in psu history. A situation that is still going on and changing. If we keep this absurd action of one thread please also include one thread called "non psu football crap" to post all these other threads. Some may elect to ignore new info and hope that somehow it all just goes away. Most want to be able to read new articles and have discussions with out it being locked down in 5 min.

Can we stop pinning things? I like the way the mods run this site, not a lot of BS gets pinned and usually it's no more than 5. This is the only PSU message board I've been a part of and recently an article was posted on TOS that was recommended to read and I was amazed their one board had like 50 topics pinned. Had to scroll down half the page to get to regular posted topics. As far as the no psu topics go I think they're pretty well contained in the various OT threads.

Because it isn't people like you, good posters, who do that. It's the morons who post something about every thought they have, and every interview Jay does within 24 hours, and every slight turn in the case. It is ridiculous. It has been 10000000x better since this has happened.

The fact that we have strong opinions from those in favor of one thread and those strongly against it is the reason why this board is great -- differing opinions, both supported well.
Like I said in the original thread, the idea is to not clutter up the board. Let's try "opening it up" so that we can talk about more specific topics (I'll keep the all-purpose thread pinned for now), but if it gets to the point where we're looking at a half-dozen different threads per day on essentially the same thing, the locks will come back.
Use your judgement; if you're about to start a new thread or post an article, ask yourself if it really needs to be separate or can be folded into one of the others.
In summation -- we're removing the "one thread" limit, but will return to it if we have to. PM me with questions or to discuss either side further.

One thread does not work
