No disagreement here.... we SHOULD be that efficient running the ball on 3rd and 1 or 2.... but 7/11 passing on 3rd and short (some of which went for BIG gains) gives the opposing coaches something to watch and break down and it makes the defense hesitate even just for a split second, which only helps the running game.
Also, the real number should be 7/10 for 70% since one of the unsuccessful times happened when we were up by 30 points and we went for it on 4th down. Your stipulation originally was that we shouldn't pass on 3rd and 1 unless we have a big lead (which we had in that instance) and my counterpoint was that it's ok if you go for it and run it on 4th down (which we also did in that case).

I already got my wish on one.
1) not having to see Pat Fitzgerald's cocky loser face yelling "flag his ass" (to refs about BOB) or his smug overconfidence in any PSU games this year. I thought he was OK until last year b/c he respected JoePa (and I thought PSU) but now I pretty much can't stand him.
2) not having to listen to every freakin' announcer mention how every extra point is "an adventure" the kid struggled but truly only "missed" 1 XP all year. The Virginia XP was Jesse James fault. It was a HORRIBLE attempt at a block that he just got trucked on.
3) And I NEVER (not just next season) EVER want to see us get demolished on the ground like we did in the tOSU game last year. 234-32. Made me want to

Agreed. If Fitz walked all the way across the field to jab at the refs while faking he was checking on a hurt player, I'd want BOB all over it. Both coaches were doing thier thing. No harm, no foul

Agree, Fitz is one of my favorite coaches besides BOB obviously. Love what he is doing with Northwestern, and that he has stayed loyal to them.
