Let me start by saying Nebraska didn't get to have a Spring Game. That nasty storm that pushed through the Midwest this past weekend knocked that out of the plans. Nebraska still had a great weekend in terms of recruiting, but the lack of a Spring Game has me a little empty.
I saw a thread on the Blue Board, link here, for Big Ten Predictions. It was stated by the Michigan State poster Macks that our division could very well be a toss up between the Spartans, Huskers, and Wolverines this year.
Got me thinking. And wanting some football talk.
So, how about one reason each -- why you will win the Big Ten, and why you will not.
For Nebraska:
Will: Because of Rex Burkhead. The warhorse keeps on keepin' and pulls us through a couple of tight game we wouldn't have won otherwise.
Won't: Because of our front seven. We lost Jared Crick (though he was pretty ineffective last year) and Lavonte David. There's some experience in the front seven, but I'm more scared than anything at this point.
What do you think, Lions?

Will: A very, very talented defense that stays healthy.
Won't: Quarterback.

Will - if we upset Wisconsin due to offense being capable of at least keeping our defense off the field.

Will - We should be able to play defense and run the football effectively, the tried-and-true formula for winning at football.
Won't - We have major issues related to quality depth at key positions.

Will: Our O line is good enough to keep Redd Healthy and gives our qb's the needed extra time they need

Will: front 7 of the defense comes to play.. Not many good qbs going against psu this years so we just gotta stop the run game..

Belton should be the change of pace back. And we should have Zwinak/Dukes get some carries on the goal line.
The QB situation is basically the same as the last two years. And I would consider that dire. Our QB coaching has been upgraded though.

Redd will probably get 20ish carries (give or take some) each game...the team is really going to rely on him to be the main focal point on our offense.

ZZ and Dukes on the Goaline could be a real threat. Belton as a 3rd down RB.

Will: Weak division, weak schedule, Wisconsin can stub their toe a couple of times, then just have to get lucky in Indy against UM/MSU (sorry, I think both are better than Nebraska)
Won't: Danny O'Brien picked Wisconsin. We have Mob McOlden
Wisconsin is head and shoulders above the rest of the division

I can understand that. I think the Spartans' defense is going to be scary. Gholston is just a monster.
Michigan, well... They stomped us last year. I'm far from any position to dispute their spot above us.

Please dont bring up the former QB coach. It was Jay Paterno, and he was not a good coach. I'll leave it at that. Anyone would be an upgrade, and we think we did pretty well with O'Brien and Charlie Fisher. So to answer your qiestion, both.
If you guys were in our division I'd say you have a good shot. But your div is tough and if you make it to Indy it will be quite an accomplishment. Come by any time to talk some football. Most here enjoy when people such as yourself drop by for good conversation.

Will: a MUCH improved offensive line paves the way for a deep running attack, led by darkhorse heisman candidate silas redd, as the nittany lions play nittany lion brand football and win the conference.
Won't: poor quarterback play makes the lions too one dimensional on offense, while opponents exploit an undermanned and inexperienced secondary.

Will: Stellar defense that blitzes from everywhere, lays the lumber and puts fear in the opponents offense
Won't: QB play - bad decision making, etc.

You saw our QB situation last year and we have the same cast of characters back. An average QB performance in our game last year, PSU goes to the BIG title game, not Wisky.
