Is this karma or what ? UM slithers in to seduce four PSU recruits 6 months ago after the Sandusky scandal. You know what they say about people who live in glass houses.
Reading between the lines in the Reading newspaper article & the quotes from the father, this smells like it has a LOT more to do than just a few random photos with a highly questionable character.
I'm guesing here, but this seems to have everything to do with (1) the inability / indifference of the OSU staff to control the environment over there, and (2) the culture of booster improprieties at OSU.
Penn State 7x National Champs, home of the winningest college football coach to ever grace a sideline.
You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small.
This is the quote from big brother Chris Anzalone before AA's commitment ... " I do like PSU, it's a unique place, but my dad and mom like Stanford. If it were me, I'd probably go to Stanford... But I don't think he feels like he's one of the guys there. Alex is intelligent, but not the geeky type. My dad isn't a big college football fanatic, he knows about UM and watched him coach, but doesn't have time to watch a lot of TV, etc., so he's not in love with UM like people have stated. My mom met BOB once, and my dad twice. I only got to me twice, but the one time we spent several hours with him between one-on-one meetings and an awesome lunch with all the coaching staff... Those guys are a lot of fun. Both my mom and dad appreciate BOB's straightforward, no bs approach to recruiting".
Doesn't seem like he would be happy at Stanford because he doesn't fit in there, he would have to live with a family off campus and wouldn't be able to take summer classes. In addition, it's 3,000 miles from home.
Florida is a strong contender. His dad is a graduate and he can get the same opportunity to get his Masters degree there that OSU was offering. But I'm not sure that he feels like he fits in there either.
ND and USC are options but I don't think they are as high on his list.
I think Penn State is his safest choice. Mom and dad respect BOB, it's close to home, and brother Nick is already on campus. Add to that he enjoyed his lunch with Mike Mauti, Glenn Carson and Ben Kline, and he has a good relationship with AB. Remember PSU went to the top, top of his list before the OSU spring game weekend. It may just be a matter of getting something together academically. Help this kid to enroll early and accept all of his AP credits.
He's obviously going to take his time but try to get him back on campus ASAP with the entire Anzalone clan.
