Hey I have been a good enough sport so I know I am going to be ripped for saying this. Its all in fairness. But I too am one the fans who hasn't watched a lot of your games. I caught your two at the start of the season where they didn't go in your favor. After that I thought to myself well another failed patriots coaching tree and I honestly disregarded you guys entirely in the big10. And you have been playing a lot better it seems I may watch the Iowa game. But truth is I had only heard of your one d linemen when the player transferring deal was going on and I hadn't heard of your lb that mauti or whatever until this board. I hope you cab continue to build on your recent success but the best front 7 in the big? From what I saw earlier in the season you guys were far from it. Msu was very athletic and yours is very well coached but in big 10 play hankins and now a non injured john Simon look amazing. Sorry just being honest and if I watched big hank in non conference games and then now incredible difference.

First, and I will be polite, your opinion doesn't have a ton of credibility when our Linebackers have been named B1G defensive players of the week three times in the last four weeks...so I assume your a very casual college football, although probably huge Buckeyes. Living in Columbus, I know the regional sports show cover little on outside games, except for scores.

Deion Barnes is the leading candidate for BIG Defensive freshman of the year. Just an FYI, as a rotational player Barnes has as many sacks as Simon and only 2.5 less tackles for a loss..that is how well he is playing. Simon has a bigger impact on the game overall, but Barnes is a future stud.

However, according to the data...PSU is ahead of OSU in

Total Defense, Rush Defense, Scoring Defense, Pass Defense, Forced Fumbles, Red Zone defense and Tackles for a loss

OSU is only ahead in Sacks, Turnovers, Ints, and Third Down defense

Both have allowed a lot of splash plays.

Also, Unlike yourself...I have watched every PSU and Buckeyes game. OSU has the better secondary, but upfront (in defensive front 7) your team is not on PSU's level.

  • The only way PSU wins this game is if Braxton Miller doesn't play. DV all you want, that's just what I see.

I have no doubt in my mind that we will beat OSU. Their defense is complete garbage.

LOL. We will dominate in beaver stadium as we have the past. Someone's pretty cocky after losing to UVA (SOFT) and OU. amazing the arrogance on this board.

BTW offense is not a 1 man show. We have the best Oline right now and good luck slowing down Hyde. Our Dline is the best in the big 10 however i'll give you our LB's suck. Good luck finding a better CB than Bradley Roby in the COUNTRY.

. Amazing how lost you all are in your bubble in not so happy valley.

"However OSU is only ahead in Sacks, Turnovers, Ints, and Third Down defense"

are you kidding me. can you please explain to me Mr. Football what defensive categories you'd like to be best at? Holy cow what are you drinking?

"up front we are not on PSU level" this is completely laughable. I can't believe I am reading this. I am sure you thought Jerry was innocent too.

Well.........scoring D for one. Total D is nice too. And then there is Rush D and Pass D.....those are pretty nice to be better than your opponent at.

I don't think there is any Penn State fan that thought Sandusky was innocent.

It was earlier in the thread.

Of my categories OSU is doing better in siginficantly better on 3rd down defensive.
PSU is doing much better in scoring defense
Turnovers and tackles for a loss are about even with PSU winning one and OSU winning one
Limiting Splash plays, both are doing poorly in that regard...

I think OSU has a very good defense with a very strong secondary, but I think PSU has the better front seven.

Also, no need for personal attacks...it just devalues your argument...I would inject the serum if I could in Sandusky the same as I would do it for Philip Nowicki

Just like you dominated in Columbus last year when we had the 90th ranked offense (or so-can't remember how bad it was) in the country?

And add to the fact that it was just after all the Sandusky stuff hit.

    ok, hang on.....

"dominate beaver stadium like we have in the past": since 1994 your record in beaver stadium is 4-5moon

"offense is not a one man show": Braxton Miller accounts for 70% of your offense, do the mathhuh

" good luck finding a better corner in the country than Roby: really?, thats just nonsense. good player but c'mon man bs_sign

off the top of my head

    Jonathen Banks from Miss State,
    Desmond Trufant from Washington
    David Amerson from Nc State
    Xavier Rhodes from Florida State
Dee Milliner from Bama (corrected, I was thinking of the former GA TE)

Roby is right there with them, but he is not head and shoulders above them. All mentioned will be 1st or 2nd round draft picks.

  • So apparently Roby is on the same level as a healthy Darelle Revis and Carlos Hyde is Adrian Peterson.

I've typed up a general response to these OSU fans several times now, but it's just not worth it. Frankly, it's obvious that the OSU posters who have come over here are nitwits who choose to respond to the most homeristic PSU comments instead of looking for reasonable discussion. Then they spout off their own homerism. But they seem to forget that PSU homerism is expected on a PSU board...while OSU homerism on a PSU board just glaringly highlights their own mental shortcomings.

    Just lock this thread already...

I have a feeling they could find a few better than Roby on the attached list if they ever watched the other teams that they claim to know so much about.

Progression from season to season (or game to game) doesn't ONLY apply to your school. These discussions go much better when that isn't forgotten. In my humble opinion of course

I didn't suggest that it didn't. I simply said that, in my opinion, the only way PSU wins is if Braxton doesn't play or gets knocked out of the game. I think he's that good, and I don't think PSU will have much of an answer for him. That's my opinion, it's not fact unless it happens.
