Honestly, I think UM and BOB are ushering in a style of play similar to the Big 12 and PAC 12 where offense/points severely trumps defense. I have my own serious doubts about how good of a defensive team we'll be after this current senior class graduates.

Meyer won at UF because of his defense, not his offense. He has always been a guy who won when he had great defensive units.
Our team right now is better defensively than offensively, and we still have two of the very best front seven coaches in all of CFB, with plenty of good young players (Barnes, Jones, Zettel, Hull, Wartman, Amos) with more coming in.
I don't get your point at all.

In most cases, when an offensive minded coach comes into a program, that program tends to shift to that side of the ball. WVU, Michigan with RichRod, Arizona, Missouri (until this year), Notre Dame with Weis, Oklahoma State ... I can give more if you wish have or had basically forgotten about the other side of the ball. I'm not saying PSU will do that, but I can see diddy's point.

Except that it isn't supported at all by facts in this very specific case. He wasn't arguing the principle or the generalized rule, but specific individuals doing specific things.
Meyer has recruited lights out defensively so far and his entire history proves his emphasis on defense. He isn't an offensive coach. That is entirely a myth. His teams succeed or fail based on their defensive performance.
BOB has retained two excellent defensive assistants, our defense is outplaying our offense, and he has even made comments stating that he avoids using NASCAR frequently in order to support the defense.
This idea that we or OSU are going to become WVU or OK-State is absurd. Those teams systematically and ideologically emphasize offensive output above any other consideration. That is clearly not the case with Meyer or BOB.

Additionally, defense is more reliant on athletic ability than offense, where schemes and playcalling can compensate for lesser physical talent. That's why there are many more offensive "gurus" than defensive gurus. As long as Hack sticks, we can likely hold our own offensively. The sanctions will hurt more on defense

Meyer's teams at Florida were BALANCED on both sides of the ball. Only a fool thinks he won on defense alone.
Yes, our defense is ahead of the offense. Could it be WE HAD MAJOR TALENT RETURNING on defense? What significant talent returned offensively? On the other side, Mauti, Hodges, Hill, Amos and a few others. So, what's your point?
Time will tell if PSU starts to point on the offensive side. However, you can't dismiss the fact that in almost every case known, when an offensive minded coach comes in, the offense is the focal point, not the other side.
You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small. -Pacino

First you say: "Meyer's teams at Florida were BALANCED on both sides of the ball." then you say at the end " However, you can't dismiss the fact that in almost every case known, when an offensive minded coach comes in, the offense is the focal point, not the other side."
It happens, especially if the offensive minded coach has good D coaches and doesnt run Nascar all day like a lot of these other offensive minded head coaches.
