Just got a chance to look at Vadas. Interesting kid, interesting film. He does a nice job setting up his defender with slight fakes when he's running routes. Just a little something to get them off balance.

2nd best walk-on we got and he may have the best chance at actually seeing the field on something other than special teams. I'm very high on this kid.

  • Garrity is putting on weight it seems.

Meet the run-ons: Gregg Garrity Jr. DYK he gained 12 pounds since Dec. and one of his fave shows is Family Guy? ($)

  • Sounds good! As most of you know, I'm a big fan of Garrity's. He's not as naturally gifted as some other guys, but he's a natural receiver and will be a good player for us on some level.

On a related note, this issue that some people have with a HS junior or senior's weight is often overblown. How many people on this board were skinny HS kids until college maturity (and meal plans) really kicked in? All that matters to me is if a kid has the frame to carry the weight. If he's super small-framed it will be hard to put on weight. If not, then you just don't worry about it. And I think Garrity has the frame to carry the extra weight to get up to a respectable playing-weight for a slot receiver.

  • Smith and Geiger tearing it up today at the PA State AA Wrestling Tourney. Both advanced into the semi finals. I know wrestling is a totally different sport than football but, both appear to be darn good athletes. Some good talent in this walk on class.

Smith is wrestling at the 220 weight class also. Very good sign.flex

  • Tom Devenney also put together a nice run in AAA 285. Lost a 3-2 decision to an undefeated wrestler in the quarterfinals.

I saw some video from one of Geigers matches ... the guy is all kinds of jacked up.

For those that may want to follow the matches, I have a link below. AAA semi finals start at 9:00am today.

Here is video of Brandon Smith's quarterfinal match. I am not worried about this kid's playing weight in college at all. I think he and his family know something about his development that others just dont understand. They know he has big potential as a D1 linebacker and he chose PSU over an Ivy League education because they know that the potential is there. Cant wait to watch this kid come into his own.

There is no link. I love this kid. My prediction is, if he shirts this year he will be a 3 year starter.

Sorry, edited above. They now had his semi-final bout up so I put that up instead.
