Atrocious? Maybe when Bolden played, but I wouldn't call McGloin atrocious. I know people don't like the extra helping of moxie that comes with McGloin, but let's be objective about his performance. He was capable of completing short throws and most midrange throws, and he was able to throw the deep ball from time to time. He ran the offense and moved the chains. His lapse of judgement against good defenses was less than stellar. But I chalk up the lack of offense the past few years to an atrocious offensive line if anything.
Again, you say PJ can make "A LOT" more throws than McGloin. What do you base this on? His limited time in the BW games and a couple of seconds of practice footage on the Big Ten Network? How does he handle pressure? Does he have pocket presense? Does he grasp the playbook? Can he manage the huddle? These are very basic requirements for playing quarterback, but they are requirements that Bolden obviously couldn't master.
You may be right and PJ may be 100x better than McGloin, but I think it's premature to make that judgement without at least seeing him in a REAL GAME. If he gets in the game and outperforms McGloin I'll be right there with you calling for BOB to give him the bulk of the reps. But until then I think it's a wasted argument to speculate that the kid who has yet to see any real game experience in three years is better than your fifth year senior in his third year as a starter..
