Is it going to be on TV up here?

It's awful bein surrounded by Philly sports and can't watch any of my teams.

It's only on regional channels, so you're stuck with finding a stream unless you have Center Ice/Gamecenter.

And all you guys talking about the new conferences, you do realize the NHLPA vetoed that a while ago, right?

Maybe for next season (if we have one), but I think it might be a first step move towards a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. I think we will know for sure what is going to happen through the in CBA negotiations. In a perfect world, the NHL expands 2 more teams.

I think in a perfect world, the NHL retracts 6 teams and has 24 total.

Was going to say the same thing.

I agree, but Bettman is stubborn, and 24 is not enough. I think we could move the Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Coyotes, Hurricanes, Islanders, and Columbus to some northern area to try out. Give Quebec another chance as it seems to be working in Winnipeg for right now, albeit its early. Lots of other teams are struggling too but not getting enough attention for a move. Anaheim comes to mind, at least from seeing a game of theirs on TV that had lots of empty seats. Not sure though.

Kitchener/Hamilton, Balsille has been trying to get a team to Hamilton for awhile, not sure how it will do so close to Buffalo/Toronto. I think if Bettman stops catering to the American cities and looks North of the Border, we could find some solid spots for a passionate fanbase.

Maybe bring back the Hartford Whalers. They have a decent TV market, some fans leftover, and some younger fans. Also could have 2 rivalries with Boston/New York. According to Nielsen, Hartford had the 5th most viewers for game one of the past NHL Stanley Cup game one.

The NHL has been going to dumb locations for hockey in the USA, like Florida, which is a strict football state. They have only been looking at huge population markets, usually with higher incomes.

I was barely old enough to remember them, but they never shoulda left. No offense to Dallas, but it was too long between teams in Minnesota.

Mike Modano period was pretty awesome.

Growing up I loved the Blues and the Florida Panthers (originally from FL). My fave player all time is Scott Mellanby. I still remember when he hit the "rat trick" in, if I remember correctly, the year they won the east and lost to the Avs in the Cup.

I used to loveee John Vanbiesbrouck aka the "Beezer." I love his helmet and pads and also liked the Florida Panthers though I grew up loving the Pens too with Lemieux, Kevin Stevens, Jagr, Coffey, Larry Murphy, Ulf Samuelsson, Ron Francis, Barasso, Wregget, Errey, Joe Mullen (he used to coach his son on a team I played growing up in travel hockey), Straka, Tochett, Trottier, etc....

The NHL video game series growing up was so fun (they are still fun to me).

I know they were rubber. Just weirdos down south. And it was gross when I was 7, yes.

True story is my little brother, who is 8that years younger, is nicknamed Beezer because of him. Me and my dad were watching a game and he made a sweet save and we yelled BEEZER and my lil brother (just a baby) laughed everytime we said it.

Still have a bobblehead of him. He was the man.

Haha awesome. I used to get called Bernie when I played goal (for Bernie Parent). I once went entire season without allowing a goal, one of the pinnacles of my athletic career.

I used to be a goalie in like mini-mites and mites. I used the real old school brown pads with like hay and deer hair inside and I had a hole in the pads from playing hockey in the basement with my brother in our house, so the hair was hanging out and would come out of the pads lol. Damn, those pads got heavy as soon as they got wet. Got to play in a shootout in between periods in the Civic Arena with my teammates. That was a fun experience.

My best time in between the net was when at a tournament in Beaver Falls, my dad forgot my pads in the hotel room, and it was like 8 miles away and in a snowstorm, so no going back. I ended up using a local kids pads. He had brand new awesome pads and was so pumped to use them, except they were a few sizes too large lol. We ended up playing and beating the Delaware Ducks that game. I remember them because they had the same uniforms of the 1st Mighty Ducks movie and was jealous!

Johnstown hockey (home of the movie Slapshot) was huge at the time, mainly because of Mario Lemieux and the Chiefs. My parents used to tell me I came from Mario Lemieux's garbage as a child when I would ask where I came from (did not know about baby making then) lol.

Haha, those are some great memories. Jealous you got to play on the big boy ice. Can't imagine many things that would be better to a little kid.
