  • Too bad man, that sucks. At least you have insurance. Hopefully they nab the dbag that did it.

  • So apparently the winner of a roach-eating contest (roaches and worms) died shortly afterward.

    Huh.

  • So what are posters' thoughts on the VP debate?

To be honest, it makes no difference.

I was impressed with both though. Biden did a good job of fighting, showing that the ticket wouldn't back down, something Obama didn't do. Ryan seemed clear and concise, like he had a purpose. Didn't let Biden push him around too much, although there were points where he curdled under Biden's pressure.

That being said, they have very little to do with the outcome, almost nothing, so tonight was more for hardcore followers than anything.

I agree it's not a significant factor in the election. Seems that the consensus is that Biden achieved his goal of being the "dominator," in contrast to Obama's embarrassing performance, but that his incessant smirking/laughing/interrupting basically offset any advantage he might have earned.

    psumichael

  • It may have been a bit much, but that was the kind of performance that the Dem's needed to show that they weren't a bunch of pushovers.

I actually like both VPs better than their ticket partners, at least in the debate forum, but I'm not sure either would be great presidential candidates.

The problem with economic policies is that both sides are forced to make assumptions about quite a few variables. Both are right, theoretically, but it doesn't matter because neither are realistic. I don't think either president would have a great impact on our economy, as I don't think jobs are something that will come back until our labor force adapts.

On a side note, both did a great job of inserting buzz words like "job creation," "liberty," "principles," "American people," "private sector," "tax cuts." etc. etc.

This debate was far more entertaining than the first. Too bad we won't see these guys go at it again.

My feelings are: if the vice presidential debate is impacting who you will vote for, you probably shouldn't be voting. If bidens smirks impact who you vote for, you also probably shouldn't be voting. And lastly, these debates aren't for undecided voters, they're for getting the apathetic voters in your party out of their houses in November. There are a lot more non-voters who lean heavily in each direction than undecided voters who will actually be going out in November. Both guys completed their goals, Biden to fire up the dems after Obama looked shitty and give them some positive feeling going into next week, and Ryan to keep up the momentum with reps that Romney built up. Surprised both avoided going crazy, cause Biden is a loose cannon and Ryan is much more conservative than a lot of Republicans.

  • Yep, agreed Shavi.

Both accomplished their goals. All in all, it was an entertaining debate.

If elections were held a few days before the first debate, Obama would've won in a landslide. However, Reps are getting fired up about Romney, so things are getting interesting and close again.

Ehh he's got a long way to go. His base may be getting fired up finally, but he's running behind in most of the key states by a good bit. I'd be shocked if Romney wins at this point.

I'm taking an upper-level electoral politics class, and my professor said as much.

Romney doesn't have enough of whatever it is to sway the independents to win the election.

Biden is fun, wish he were doing things more important than being a VP. While I was watching I hoped both would lose so these guys could go at it on the floor of the Senate.

  • Thought it might be appropriate to resurrect this, given that it's now the offseason. Seen more OT threads pop up.

    Saw this photo. Interesting behavior.

Kentucky Derby was amazing. I went the summer after my freshman year, and it was one of the best day/nights of my life. The morning after is rough, but it is some of the most fun I've ever had in my life.

  • If you have Fenway on there, you have to go to Wrigley at some point.

My favorite stadium/arena/whatever in sports, period. The history is unbelievable. The sausages, sauerkraut, and that ivy.... Man, great park.

    Flyers playoff game at home
Floor seats to a LeBron James game
I would also have to go with Green Monster seats at Fenway
    Ryder Cup on U.S soil

  • Anyone watching the Sandy Concert? The Rollings Stones were a letdown like usual only playing two songs while the Who played 5 or 6. This is why I have loved the Who more than the Stones. I feel like the Who are more connected to their work than the Stones.

Seen the who a few times live. Pre and post enwhistle. I was actually disappointed with their performance, not a lot of energy and daltery was off a bit on his notes.

In their prime with their full lineup, I would see them in a heartbeat. If someone gave me the options of Who tickets in their prime or Stones tickets in their prime, I choose the Who every time.
