My dad has had season tickets to PSU for 20 years, we had seats at the 30 yard line until this year because of the STEP program. I am now a student so I stand in the student section, but he now has four seats in section NAU. Two of those seats have a completely obstructed view because of the fence at the end of the section. The other two seats are partially obstructed. When me and my dad picked those seats last spring, the virtual view was perfect. My dad then called the ticket office and they basically told him "too bad." To me, that's just not right. He put over $1,500 into those seats and now he can't even see the game. Any suggestions on what else he can do to change these seats? Because I know for sure there are a couple thousand open for each game.
no real suggestions other than the fact that the NLC has always been pretty helpful if you are polite and explain the situation. I would expect that there is nothing they can do at this point for the season though... he can move seats next year. sux, but such things happen in life.
maybe try taking a picture of the view and sending it to the NLC?

Had a friend that wanted to reconsider his original choice. He call the NLC within two days of his original choice asking if he could just have his original seats again, they basically said what your dad heard, too bad.
In the past the NLC was generally very helpful. Now that they are receiving pressure due to STEP they may have shorter fuses OR they may have a dictate to lock everyone in to choice number one immediately. I don't know and don't have any contacts inside the NLC or the AD. I can only envision things on my past experience and the stated experiences of fans reporting their experiences this season including friends of over 30 years. Unfortunately the lower end NLC staff has probably gotten a lot of grief during implementation of STEP and the decision makers who are insulated from the average fan avoid the same confrontations through their positions.
Unobstructed view on the web site turning into obstructed view in actuality is a shame and shows someone in charge didn't actually do the seat by seat check of the sight lines, particularly at the ends of rows, etc. Hope you family can change seats next summer to better locations. I believe there will be more openings by then as my friend who moved to the North endzone said he won't renew. His sight lines are fine it you like the end zone sight lines.
For most games, between the 20's on both sides of the field in the upper 20 rows are open because of the STEP program apparently. We moved from the East stands to the west stands to get out of the sun and nobody checked our tickets. There were at least 10 rows above us with hardly anyone sitting in them. This didn't change until you go to the $100 seat license sections. It is kind of sad that you can't find a seat in the endzones but you can sit between the 20's with no problem.
