Penn State freshman DE Shawn Oakman has been dismissed from the football team due to a violation of team rules.
He had so much potential. I really hope he can work his way back onto the team.

I seriously cant believe it. Oakman under LJ and Fitz2 was something I was really looking forward too.

Barnes was ahead of Oakmen as he was so raw, but his frame and potential filling it out under LJ's watch would have been something to see.

Well, maybe it is a sign that O'brien means business and wont put up with anything. Just speculation, since we dont know what happened. I have much higher expectations for Barnes than I did Oakman, but it still sucks to see a kid go.

anyone hear what he did? skipping workouts/meetings/class? disciplinary for drinking or something worse? liked his size and I too thought in a few years he could be turned into a beast by lj and roof

im sure it was deserved but do like the fact that bob and staff are willing to run a tight ship, after the events of the last 4 months i think a disciplined team and mentality from the coaching staff is very important. sets a precedent and example and really was the way the program was run in the 80's and 90's...seemed to get away from that in the last decade or so.
