This isn't really a reply about the Fortt and Jones tweets, but the USCe guys have mentioned that Fitz held a summer "games" while he was there. They said it was really entertaining to follow and was definitely something to look forward to if he continues that at PSU.

I truly think Bench is the darkhorse to start this season. That is big shoes to fill, but honestly from what we have seen from our QBs so far, even as a true freshmen rated lowly, if he has any more brain between his head than the others and can manage a game with Silas Redd and his defense and not lose the game, then he starts. He will be behind the 8-ball with not having spring practice, but everything this kid says and does just has the infamous "it."

  • In Facebook news he's probably just having some fun but Chris Hawkins changed his place of work to State College PA.

He is prob. playing, but this kid had some awesome words for PSU on a Scout report.

Thats pretty cool. I know if I was him, I would be doing the EXACT same thing. The second I received the playbook in the mail I would be up all night studying it. Its got to be one of the most exciting feelings for kids like him...in a matter of months he will have his own locker and jersey at Penn State.

  • Maybe we'll get real lucky and Bench's school will come up with another prospect or two. Bench's enthusiasm about PSU should only help us in GA.

  • For how behind the eightball we were, I don't think you could do much better than Bench. It has been said from multiple people down south including a guy who ran a camp with Bench that he flew way under the radar. It's great getting someone with a huge chip on their shoulder and D1 quality talent.

not in twitter form but news read today

LB Buddy Brown finally has a visit nailed down. He intends to visit the first week of April. He said that he believes it will be the 1st day that the team practices in pads. Look for an interview with Buddy when his visit gets closer. VBRings Tim T

What NCAA rule says fans can't talk to players?

What NCAA rule says fans can't talk to players?

This was discussed in another thread a few weeks ago. Technically speaking it's not allowed for the reason that these fans could be acting in disguise as "boosters" and bribing these athletes to pick their school. With the way social media has taken off, it's flat out impossible to impose anything of this nature. EVERY school would be sanctioned to a certain degree if that were the case. Our fans aren't the only ones doing this. It happens everywhere.

exactly...it's gone too far. Fans turned "journalists"...the recruits are hounded enough by the 3 legit recruiting services and now add 2-3 blog sites per major team and it's getting a bit ridiculous.

i think every big time(hell even toledo has a couple) program has a bunch of sites trying to scoop up information about kids at are only 16-19, the NCAA has to know that it is impossible for the staff or Univ. too be able to control that type of stuff happening...with social networking and the freedom to create a website, no way BOB, or saban, or any other coach could keep up with the hype that is football recruiting. plus these sites help fill lull periods for the sport. and just feed the fire during the off season...they want ratings and hype as much as any other money making company

i see your point about BOB maybe not liking it, because a guy doing the interview could say the wrong thing, or annoy the recruit, but for the most part i think high school boys love attention, and getting it from blogsites has to be a pretty "rockstar" feeling...a lot of people on this site thought Rich Rod pitch to ryan was cheesy but he seemed to eat that up.

For one any season ticket holder is automatically considered a booster and thus it is an NCAA violation to contact these recruits.

It only takes one. Following the kid on twitter is one thing, talking to the kid is another. Fan blogs getting kids to interview is nerve wracking as well. And I can guarantee the staff isn't thrilled about it.

Leave it to the professionals, and let the kids be.
