Erickson is taking the sword. He wants to be done by the end of next year. I don't agree with everything he has done, but most of what he is doing is correct, IMO.

Whether people like it or not, PR matters in this.

I think that he is WAY too apologetic. There is a way to say things without acting like you are guilty. This was an isolated screw up by the main 4 and 4 more BOT's that hid it from the rest of them (Surma, the guy that resigned and 2 more that were named in the Freeh report). They all have to go. But to act like you want to lay down and take whatever punishment people want to give is wrong to me. Also, the statue has to go, but doing it unilaterally after all that has occurred is bad PR.

No one is going to give Erickson bad PR for deciding to take down the statue. It will be just the opposite. I also disagree that this was an isolated incident. This thing occured because we didn't have proper oversight of Paterno, Spanier and Schultz. The BOT was ineffective at best in policing those individuals.

We are on the right track now. Things will be done that will not be fun to watch, but they will be necessary. I give Erickson a lot of credit for not being callous... not the easiest thing to do when your integrity is being attacked constantly from all sides.

Wasn't me, but I would have. Isn't this just a rumor? You are not only assuming it's exactly true, but running the president out of his job while you're at it. The whole world is making snap judgments on the future of our program and our school with very little information to go by. Do we need to be doing that as well? Take a breath.

What if the board gave the strategic guidance to Erickson to take action to address the image of the University.

What if taking down the statue is a plank in the strategy to do so? To me, that's how a board & management should work together.

I have no idea. It was just retweeted by another PSU recruiting site I believe

I never sign in at work but had to to make comment after reading the article on AB. We should make a committment as people who care about Penn State to honor Adam, Hack and all the guys that stick with us - Not just now but for but until we breath our last. These guys are taking untold, and undeserved grief over this and I just marvel at their steadfastness. I am just blown away by these guys..
