That's interesting. Probably why he never got back to PSU in the middle of the week then like he said he was thinking about doing with his parents.

I think you have the weeks confused. He was trying to get back to PSU during the week before the BW game with his parents. They couldn't get the schedules lined up, so that was skipped and he went to OSU and then committed. He was just at Florida this past Thursday, May 3, per Shurburtt, the day before he de-committed.

They settle a lot after year 1, by yeat 3 it aint too bad. Also those visors do nothing to stop pellets getting in your eye area, trust me. I dont think thats a big reason at all why people are starting to wear them, more for the look than anything.

More for look yes, but I said it is ONE of the reasons why they are becoming more popular, especially in HS. Kids in high school who wear visors need a legit reason (at least in Pennsylvania) to be able to wear them. The pellets/eye protecion reason has worked (at least a couple kids on my HS team used that excuse to "look cool"), and the still do kick up after they use that Gator to "rake" it up (not sure what it is called but its in video). When the field compacts, that opens up the risk of more injuries, and is one of the main reasons they do maintenance on fieldturf (see video below). I am sure it does not do much, but it is still one of the reasons we are seeing more visors, at least in HS.

www.fieldturfsolutions.com Contrary to popular belief, synthetic turf is NOT maintenance free. Proper maintenance is essential in order to provide the best possible return on your investment.Common problems with synthetic turf are debris and bacteria buildup within the infill along with the compaction of the playing surface which leads to a reduced life span of your field and a greater susceptibility towards injury or illness of your athletes.A well maintained field will allow athletes to perform to the best of their ability by promoting health, safety, long life span of the turf, aesthetically pleasing appearance and most importantly to preserve the original performance characteristics of the playing surface. Jeff Bresee with Sports Engineering Technologies, Inc. will discuss how a properly maintained field by TSI will provide a safe field for your athletes from an impact standpoint. After g-maxTSI's solution will de-compact the playing surface, remove debris from the infill, kill all bacteria residing in your field and extend the life of your field which will provide a better return on your investment. Your synthetic turf field IF maintained by Turf Solutions, Inc will perform the way it was intended. Dallas, DFW, Ft. Worth, Metroplex, Plano, Austin, Houston, Waco TX, Texas, North Texas

it was the day before he de-committed not committed. So that would've been this past Thursday.

I seem to remember a couple other 2012 guys that were either committed or leaning towards us that said they were still considering us. When it was clear they only said it because they didn't want to offend any fans (most specifically Spence and OConner). I doubt AA is actually considering O$U anymore, otherwise he wouldn't have decommitted until he knew for sure he wasn't going there.

  • I wouldn't complain about having another Stupar on the team. I agree with O.B., we can't win with all valedictorians, but there is no reason not to factor character into the evaluation.

However, kids like Stupar provide something to the locker room and are great for showing parents what PSU is all about. If I was a parent and met knew a kid like Stupar was going to be around my son, I would not hesitate one moment to send him there. Stupar was a team first guy and played solid football down the stretch. He also was a good student and an asset to the community. Now he has a great chance to play on Sundays. Was he an elite player like Sean Lee - of course not. However, did he help PSU win, yes.

That said, I am not sold on AA being an elite prospect yet, I want to see what he does his SR year. AA is being recruited so highly due to potential and character. The reality is that you don't always find a 6'3" 240+ athlete with great physical and good intangibles. AA would definitely be able to digest the playbook earlier than most and that allows Vandy to spend time working on technique issues.

(EDIT: Realized it was VIP for no reason, except for it was replied to a VIP post from new-era)

    +1. Nice observation on Stupar.

Thanks, I always pulled for Nate. I met his sisters on a couple occasions. One of my friends went to their church in SC. They are definitely a very nice family.

Nate definitely has limitations, he is mostly a run and chase LBer and a drag tackler that didn't make many splash plays. However, he was a solid contribute on special teams and a good player on defense.

I'm hoping you're right but apparently he was on the phone with UM last nite. http://ohiostaterecruiting.blogspot.com/2012/05/brief-alex-anzalone-update.html

UM doesn't know when to stop, both when kids are committed to other schools and or if a kid de-commits from his program and says they are no longer interested...UM is still giving it 10000%.

AA said OSU was still in play. Just that he needed to step back and reevaluate. The idea that OSU was off the board was premature it seems.

BTW, I thought this was the Twitter thread?

AA might not have ruled out OSU but Cam Williams said we were still in play too.

  • Oh dont get me wrong Nate is a good solid LB. But AA is getting so much attention i dont see the hype. You would think this is the next Sean Lee and i just dont see it.

No, but he is the next Alexander Anzalone, a player with the potential to be another great PSU All-American and future NFL All-Pro if Vandy coaches him up like we are used too and his potential matches the hype (NFL All-Pro is going a little to far, but I expect every PSU LB to eventually get there). To top that off, he aso has a 4.8gpa and like a year+ worth of AP credits.

When a kid decides not to attend XXX school for whatever reason after giving a verbal, I find it hard to believe in this case OSU is still in the mix for him - especially the way he left and if you read Sal's comments. Was PSU seriously still in the mix with Reeves and Williams after they said PSU was? Absolutely not.

  • Longer this plays out the better for PSU.

I have a feeling he is going to take his time and make sure he is 100% this time so we may have a while to go guys.

  • I still say Florida. If they were upset about this guy at OSU then the PSU/Sandusky stuff you would assume would also bother him.

And i dont see a future nfl lb i think he looks good on offense as a pass catching halfback.

Didnt he only have 60 tackles last yr? not exactly a nose for the ball in a bad conference.
