OT Tiger Woods

  • For any golf fans out there, Tiger finally gets the monkey off his back and wins a tournament. The putt on 17 was the old clutch Tiger.

  • He still golfs? Took him long enough to finally notch another win under his belt. I think it's safe to say though that his best days are way behind him.

  • He won his own tournament with a VERY limited field on one of his hand picked courses. Not so impressive.

but he did have to come back to a degree in the end. His problem lately has been finishing tournaments.

If he gets close to his beat golf he will win over 20 majors.

I guess I should warn you, if I turn out to be particularly clear, you've probably misunderstood what I've said.

He still beat a former Masters champ in Zach Johnson, and he's a pretty damn good golfer in his own right.

Some people don't quite realize how many incredible golfers there are out there, and this was still a PGA Tour-sanctioned event. Its not like he beat some scrubs picked off the nearest street corner.

A win is a win, and at that level it is still an impressive feat. Hopefully he gets at least some of his swagger back and gets back to hitting shots and making some putts.

He finally closed on Sunday, and that putt on 17 and 18 were vintage Tiger. I'm rooting for him, because golf hurts without the Tiger TV ratings....

To me the entire 72nd hole was vintage tiger, his iron off the tee was longer than Johnson's driver, Johnson hit a fantastic shot putting the pressure on tiger, and he hit an even better shot putting it back on Johnson. Thats the tiger of old, he completely turns the table on you.

  • Let's not get too crazy. He won with a 18 man field. I watched the back nine. I don't think Tiger hit driver at all. Didn't need to. (Driver has been his problem club.)

18 is a birdie hole!! Hitting a 90 yard wedge to 6 feet is not heroic!

  • How many golf fans are Tiger fans? How many Tiger fans are golf fans?

  • I watch the majors regardless, the rest I watch when I think Sunday will be interesting, always watch when tiger is in the hunt.

In a sport like golf, I like watching dominance. I was cheering for Rory to win a few majors this year.

Agreed! I didn't like him before his scandal and I still don't like him. I'd rather watch Phil, Freddie (and a few of the older guys) and the young guys.

I do appreciate what Tiger has done for the Tour...but that's it. I don't like when he's in the field and that's all you here is "Tiger, Tiger, Tiger," even if he's not in contention.

He's arrogant and still hasn't changed (despite his so-called effort to be more fan friendly and control his temper).

Tiger's always hit his driver squirrely, except for his brief stint with Butch. Regardless of who fans deem worthy of acceptance into a PGA event, Tiger still beat a field of PGA professionals who are capable of winning any given weekend.

Tiger is just getting back to hitting his 2-iron stinger, his old go-to before Haney screwed him up, and is getting closer to where he used to be.

No hole is a birdie hole on the the back nine on Sunday when you're tied for the lead. Also, a touch wedge is one of the hardest clubs to hit when the pressure is on and adrenaline is pumping. He's capable of hitting that thing 130, so a touch shot in that situation is not a gimme.

Making the putt was icing on the cake, vintage Tiger. I'm not saying he's back, I'm just saying he looked like the Tiger of old.

I understand the sentiment, because he's certainly not my favorite either, but Phil is kind of a douche himself. Definitely one of the most two-faced guys on tour, and does nothing but whine once the cameras stop rolling. I had the chance to caddie for the husband of an executive of Crowne Plaza, and he spent three holes telling me how Phil yelled at his wife until she cried while they were filming those stupid Crowne Plaza commercials.

I've heard it from multiple people about the way Phil acts behind the scenes, but TIFWIW. The guy who I caddied for shot a career round on a Tour level course and stiffed me on the tip...

Freddie is the man though, hard to find a better guy.

  • Through my home course I've gotten to know a few guys involved in the PGA, and three who have been on it, and every one of them say Phil is a tool.

Clearly he has a great PR guy though, that's how he competed with Tiger in the advertising world. Although, he was nowhere near Tiger's level, he still found a nice niche.
